Since opening its first location in 2013, Shell Shack has quickly proved to be a hit with locals, supplying them with perfectly-seasoned crabs, shrimp, oysters and more. The original Uptown Dallas store has since been joined by others in Plano, Arlington and Mesquite, and now, the concept is expanding to Fort Worth.

Crews have already broken ground on Shell Shack’s new home, which will be located at Parkside at Alliance Town Center. The more than 5,000 square foot interior and 2,262 square foot patio is part of the 3.5-acre project in North Fort Worth’s most exciting development, bringing dining and nightlife destinations to a beautiful setting that looks onto Bluestem Park and includes a live music stage, outdoor seating and fun activities for the whole family, like bocce ball and cornhole.   Continue reading

Maggiano’s Offers New Brunch Items

magg1by Trey Moran

I had the pleasure of sampling the upcoming brunch menu at Maggiano’s Little Italy at Northpark this past weekend and from what they presented it should be a hit.  I’m not much for the big chain restaurants but I have always enjoyed Maggiano’s. The food is always on point and there is always an energetic atmosphere.  And it is always a good place to end up after hiking Northpark all day.   Continue reading

Shell Shack Opening Second Location in Plano This March

shell shackby Steven Doyle

The much loved Uptown seafood haunt, Shell Shack, is set to open its door in Plano sometime in March. The latest location is situated at Park and the Tollway, a popular hot spot for many new restaurants. We spoke today with one of the partners of Shell Shack, Dallas Hale, and he said that the equipment has already been delivered, all licenses were in place (typically the largest obstacle for any bar or restaurant), and he is just waiting for the build out to be finished and to train a new staff. This is exciting news for those that love spicy crabs, shrimp, and crawfish.   Continue reading

Tacos At Home Courtesy Of TJ’s Seafood Market

Steve_Jill_2by Steven Doyle

I am often asked since I dine out so frequently if I ever cook at home. The answer is yes, and I am quite capable. But the fact is I dine out nearly every meal, and I do miss cooking at home. But as fortune would have it I had a chance to do just that when a friend invited me over this week.  But I cheated a bit by stopping in at TJ’s Seafood Market for a little assistance.

I dropped by the TJ’s for a little friendly advice from my favorite fishmonger, Jon Alexis. Alexis suggested for light bites to grab some jumbo shrimp that they prepare fresh each day, and maybe a bit of their signature smoked salmon and large lump crab. This sounded perfect for an evening of wine and conversation, and decided to make tacos out of all the ingredients. Little was I aware but these would be the best tacos that mankind has ever known, I humbly submit. Continue reading

Why Am I So Crabby? Del Frisco Double Eagle Steakhouse

DSC09111by Steven Doyle

For those who know me, I have been on this insane crab kick. No, really. When I am not out hunting for the succulent shellfish, I am making something at home like a crab salad sandwich. It really is the perfect food.

My crab of choice is Dungeness, possibly because I enjoy table side cracking and picking of the deliciously sweet meat. In the coming weeks I will share some of the very best crab that Dallas has to offer. Let’s start today with a  Dallas institution, Del Frisco.  Currently Del Frisco Double Eagle Steakhouse is offering their Seafood Plateau. This is their version of the Seafood Tower found all over the planet. What makes this beauty so special is the large emphasis on crab.

When the Plateau arrives you will immediately jet your eyes to the enormous stone crab. Stone crab is surely food of the gods. They are large, bountiful, easy to eat and the dense white meat is super sweet. The sweet meat lends itself to the obligatory creamy mustard sauce, but Del Frisco offers a plethora of sauces to choose from. Stone crab is so flavorful, they could be eaten without sauces.   Continue reading
