Tacos At Home Courtesy Of TJ’s Seafood Market

Steve_Jill_2by Steven Doyle

I am often asked since I dine out so frequently if I ever cook at home. The answer is yes, and I am quite capable. But the fact is I dine out nearly every meal, and I do miss cooking at home. But as fortune would have it I had a chance to do just that when a friend invited me over this week.  But I cheated a bit by stopping in at TJ’s Seafood Market for a little assistance.

Sea Breeze Has A Plethora Of Crabs (Videos)

dungenessby Steven Doyle

Crabbing season is upon us and there are plenty of tasty options available. We checked out the catch at Sea Breeze Fish Market and Grill to see what they were offering, and we happily found an abundance of king, snow, dungeness, stone and even soft shell crabs. The crabs at Sea Breeze can be purchased and taken home to cook, or you can allow the guys at the restaurant to prepare your favorite crab dish.

Stone crabs are perfect in that they are ready to eat with very little effort. The meat is dense and flavorful, and even the most skiddish are able to pop out the rich flesh. Soft shells are perfect to fry up and use in a sandwich, taco or just by themselves. King crab and dungeness require a bit of work, but the effort is well worth huge rewards. Dungeness are the meatiest, but require special care up front. We have a few videos for you today that shows how to prepare, and also eat the dungeness crabs.    Continue reading

First Look: Shell Shack For Late Night Crabs

Shell Shack is the newest addition to McKinney Avenue and is located where The Stand was at 2916 McKinney, and is owned by the same fellows that operate The Back 9 Bar and Grill in Addison. It is also located next to Pozo and Standard Pour, on the same side of the avenue. The new restaurant is a fantastic late night spot for cocktails, a few well chosen beers and seafood. The stars of the show are the variety of crabs, boiled in bag with a heavy hand on the spice rack for this crazy and delicious flavor that makes you want more. On our visit we did just that.     Continue reading
