New Herrera’s Opening in West Dallas

FOH (Fans of Herrera’s) will be excited to find the latest location of the famed Tex Mex restaurant at 3311 Sylvan in West Dallas, very near Trinity Groves. This is the location of the shuttered Tio Joe’s Cocina Mexicana. The new version of Herrera’s will sport a beautiful and largish patio, and still serve up those amazing thick flour tortillas and the best version of a sour cream enchilada in Dallas.  Continue reading

Carrollton Herrera’s Closes But Look For Their Food Truck Very Soon

It has been an odd day of messages about a variety of restaurants closing and chefs on the move. We just caught wind of a few more. Herrera’s in Carrollton on Beltline is no more. This is a family operation where different members run the various locations, and this closing does not affect others stores in the Dallas area. Certainly one of Dallas’ favorite Tex Mex spots, this particular owner is regrouping. Look for a Herrera’s food truck to hit the streets soon. The New Herrera’s On Fitzhugh Is Gone: Blame Obama

Call it doomed territory, or perhaps more like a poor choice of locations for Tex Mex in a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood. The neighbors on Fitzhugh aren’t going for those gooey beef enchiladas or hard shell tacos that Herrera‘s is putting out. The Fitzhugh neighborhood demands the real deal taqueria style tacos that only cost a buck.      Continue reading
