Review: Chopped Judge Sweeps Through Dallas

Maneet Chauhan, judge on the Food Network’s Chopped and Iron Chef contestant is on a 40 city tour of the country to promote her new book Flavors Of My World (co-written Doug Singer). A rock star type luxury coach is transporting her and a film crew for a month a total of over 8,500 miles and maintaining a grueling daily schedule. This Friday she was in Dallas for a book signing, followed by an afternoon conducting a Pro-Start cooking competition for high school students (Pro-Start is a program of the National Restaurant Association to promote interest in in culinary careers), and then overseeing a Celebrity Chef Dinner at Komali.         Continue reading

Thanksgiving is upon us once again and all the gobblers are running for cover. To get you in the mood for a little fun and relaxation we asked a few chefs around Dallas several questions so we get our dinner cooked just right. We will run their answers both today and tomorrow, so check back often to see how your favorite chef weighs in on the holiday.

Anastacia Quinones is the genius in the kitchen at Abraham Salum’s Mexico City-style restaurant, Komali. The press loves AQ and she has had many accolades in her culinary career. Tres Generaciones Dinner At Komali

Three is better than one. Treat yourself to a tasty 3-course tequila dinner featuring Tres Generaciones Tequila, on Tuesday, July 24th at Uptown’s Komali.  

Beginning at 6:30 pm, mixologist Leann Berry creates and discusses the Plata, Reposado, and Anejo tequila pairings, while Chef Anastacia Quiñones serves a 3-course meal along with an amuse bouche to start off the festivities ($65 per person, plus tax and tip).  Please call 214-252-0200 for reservations, as seating is limited.

Friday’s Five Fabulous Food Finds of the Week

With a big break in the middle, this week flew by at break-neck speeds. This didn’t stop us from missing a meal, in fact it probably helped us a long a bit. With fireworks we ate some dogs this week, some fantastic roasted corn and plowed through more than a few orders of wings while studying the mating habits in the local bar scene for a future story.
