Chef John Tesar, a four-time James Beard nominated chef, and a two-time contestant on Bravo’s “Top Chef”, has signed a lease at Laguna Cliffs Resort & Spa in Dana Point, CA to bring his renowned seafood reputation to the West Coast. The restaurant will be called Outer Reef and will feature Tesar’s interpretation of coastal seafood, using fresh California produce and seafood sourced exclusively from the West Coast, from Baja to Alaska. A Look at the Tesar Spoon Pop-Ups

For those of you following the many activities of John Tesar you would have noticed that he is one busy chef and in great demand. When the chef is not busy rocking Knife, his kick ass steakhouse in Dallas, or doing one of the many charity events he is so popular for, or his second coming on the current season of Top Chef, Tesar is is still not satisfied.
We noted some time ago that Tesar is also adding another restaurant to his menu in the form of a burger stand in Plano next year. Spoon Closes Dec 31st
First Driftwood, now Spoon. Dallas fast became at a loss for terrific seafood with the announcement today that Spoon is closing December 31st.
Chef John Tesar’s Spoon Bar & Kitchen (8220 Westchester Dr.) will close after New Year’s Eve dinner service as Chef John Tesar and Chanticleer Holdings, Inc. separate amicably to pursue their objectives separately. Tesar will be moving Spoon to a different location to be announced at a later date. Continue reading
