Chefs Stephan Pyles and Tim Byres Unveil New Programming at Flora Street Cafe

Chefs Stephan Pyles and Tim Byres of Stephan Pyles Flora Street Café at HALL Arts have unveiled their new plans in the evolution of the iconic Dallas restaurant. Experiential dining offerings include new lunch and dinner programming, a fresh spin on the tasting menu with its own luxury venue, and a brunch menu that has recently launched. The evolvement comes after the December announcement of the collaboration between Chef Stephan Pyles and Chef Tim Byres, formerly of the award-winning restaurant SMOKE.

“I never thought after 35 years of owning restaurants I would be this excited about a new direction,” said Chef Stephan Pyles. We will be able to offer two separate and very different dining experiences. While making the experience in the main dining room less formal, and the menu more “approachable”, we will transition the current private dining room into a “restaurant within a restaurant” with a progressive, innovative 12 course tasting menu”. Stampede 66 Relocating

After nearly six years in Uptown Dallas, Stephan Pyles Concepts announced it has decided to close Stampede 66 by Stephan Pyles and will be relocating Stephan’s ‘love letter to Texas’ to the new Delta Hotels by Marriott Dallas Allen & Watters Creek Convention Center this January 2019.

Stephan Pyles said, “While we love Uptown and Downtown Dallas, this particular part of Uptown is saturated, surrounded by vacant real estate, constant construction lane closures and neighboring high rise construction that has made it harder and harder for doing business. This allows us the unique opportunity with Benchmark Global Hospitality to have some of our concepts at both ends of the DFW Metroplex and bring Stampede 66 in various forms to more people.”   Continue reading →

Stephan Pyles and his Tamale Tarts Throughout Time

Years ago, I will not admit how many, I read a book that contained recipes from several local chefs including Richard Chamberlain of his eponymous steakhouse in Addison, and Steven Pyles of the then wildly popular Routh Street Cafe. Both were young sprites with many years of success ahead of them. The book was called Great Chefs, Great Cities of the Southwest. I was enamoured.

Local Chefs in Finals for James Beard Award

We wish to send congratulations to local chefs and restaurateurs who made the finalist list for the James Beard Awards for 2017

The list is longer than most years, and include  Maggie Huff, for pastry at FT33, Stephan Pyles  at his restaurant Flora for best new restaurant, Teiichi Sakurai Tei An)and John Tesar at Knife for Best Chef of the Southwest. Happy Hour at Stampede 66

Every Monday, Stampede 66 hosts a Happy Hour accompanied by live music performance. Below is the description for the upcoming event this Monday, October 24th. This week Stampede 66 is proud to feature the Blondettes Band, a “rockabilly soul” duo from Dallas. Featuring one of Stampede 66’s own, The Blondettes’ music “harkens a simpler time of doo-wop, Motown, and rockabilly.”

Check out this fun happy hour Monday, October 24th from 4 to 7pm, with the band playing from 5:30 to 7pm.

Parking Deals, Stampede 66 and More Coming to DFW Airport

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is kicking off its busiest fall yet with a Terminal Parking promotion, updated airport amenities, and new retail and dining options.  To welcome weekend travelers this fall, the Airport is offering a parking discount of nearly 60 percent. Between September 2 and November 13, weekend travelers can park in Terminal Parking for three (3) days for $29, as long as they enter on a Friday. Terminal Parking is DFW’s most convenient self-parking option, with a total of 28,000 spaces and state-of-the-art digital parking guidance systems. The base rate for Terminal Parking is $24 per day.

With Labor Day marking the traditional end of the summer travel season, DFW is projecting 1.2 million travelers will fly through the Airport this holiday weekend. 

“Our goal is to make the customer experience as smooth and efficient as possible,” said Ken Buchanan, executive vice president of revenue management for DFW Airport. For the most convenient parking travelers are encouraged to take advantage of our Terminal Parking promotion and we will continue to elevate the overall DFW travel experience with new amenities and updates to make for a delightful trip through DFW.”

DFW is continuing to add new restaurants, stores and services to elevate the customer experience.  Travelers arriving at DFW this weekend will enjoy these new additions for shopping and dining throughout the Airport:

Fiesta de la Vida with Stephan Pyles and Lakewood Brewing at Stampede 66

This Halloween, put the kids to bed, grab your broomstick, and celebrate All Hallows’ Eve with Stampede 66 and Lakewood Brewing Co. at Fiesta de la Vida. As the official kickoff event for North Texas Beer Week, Fiesta de la Vida begins the 10-day local celebration of craft beer.

Admission includes a souvenir glass as well as five beer and food pairings with special, limited release beers. At midnight there will be a cask tapping of Lakewood Brewing Co.’s popular, seasonal Temptress Mole. Stampede 66’s modern ranch house in the heart of Uptown will be transformed into a neighborhood for trick or treating with a twist.
