The first strike this tamale season is from Urban Taco who each year makes a delicious new tamale daily leading up to Christmas in what they call the Twelve Days of Tamales. La Popular Expands At Dallas Farmers Market To Serve Texas Brews

Look for La Popular, one of the most popular tamale makers in Dallas, to bring you something more than fantastic fresh-made chips, salsa and tamales. La Popular recently expanded  their Shed Two location at the Dallas Farmers Market with an actual kitchen to prepare such offerings as enchiladas, tostadas, flautas, and quesadillas.  Also look for the tamale maker to add Texas-made beers to the restaurant’s roster.

“My father has always been adamant about using the highest quality of ingredients and trying to find what we need at the Farmers Market. Everyone in the family who takes part in the business is expected to be knowledgeable in everything from washing the pots and pans to managing the kitchen,” said Jesse Moreno, Jr. about the new project.    Continue reading →

How Many Tamales Can A Cop Eat? Apparently 96

La Popular is known for two things: great tamales and for giving so much back to the community. I know I have ranted a few times how much chefs and restaurateurs give back to the community and charities and La Popular is definitely in this category.  This past week La Popular held what they billed as their first annual tamale eating contest with a major throw down between the Dallas Police Department and Dallas Fire Rescue.   Continue reading →
