Win Dinner For Two At Ryan Barnett’s Latest Pop-Up

Chef Ryan Barnett hosts a Vegan Pop-Up dinner Friday, August 24 at My Private Chef in Deep Ellum.  The final dinner in a series of four, themed Sea, Air, Land and Earth, the 4 course menu will include Chilled Melon Soup, Texas Pea Cassoulet, Paquet of Courgettes (trio of squashes with handmade pasta) and Financier with summer fruits.  Guests are encouraged to BYOB (cork service provided).

Ingredients will be sourced both from Ryan’s personal garden as well as from local Texas farmers.        Continue reading

A Spoon Foreshadowing Dinner

Chef John Tesar has had a busy summer vacation. While off on a project that is being treated like Harry Potter’s nemesis, something that which cannot be spoken, he has also sprinkled in a few wonderful underground dinners.

The term underground dinner has been bandied about so much that it has lost its charm, but whatever you wish to call these intimate dinners Tesar’s was a grand slam and reminiscent of Tesar from around the way.  Working solo in the kitchen with a short staff of a somm who worked along-side another server, Tesar showed the sold out crowd that he was not out of practice since leaving his One Arts Plaza burger and wine bistro, The Commissary.         Continue reading

Ryan Barnett’s Underground Euphorium Goes French

Taking my own recommendation, I joined a band of merry diners at the newest of the underground chef dinners offered at the not-so-secret location in Deep Ellum on the corner of Malcolm X and Elm. There a small group of food enthusiasts gathered with their own bottles of wines served by the staff of chef Ryan Barnett.

You may recall from previous articles here on craveDFW that Barnett is a talented and trained chef that is originally from the Dallas area (Hillcrest High for those keeping score at home) who has worked at some excellent venues in this city including Neighborhood Services as sous chef.                   Continue reading

Chef Nicole’s Birthday Bash and Underground Dinner

We have written about the Van Camps more than a few times. You probably read our little write up on Anthony Van camp this morning. He is the new big shot over at the Hilton Anatole Dallas. You may recall a few articles on his wife Nicole here  and here.
