Taking my own recommendation, I joined a band of merry diners at the newest of the underground chef dinners offered at the not-so-secret location in Deep Ellum on the corner of Malcolm X and Elm. There a small group of food enthusiasts gathered with their own bottles of wines served by the staff of chef Ryan Barnett.
You may recall from previous articles here on craveDFW that Barnett is a talented and trained chef that is originally from the Dallas area (Hillcrest High for those keeping score at home) who has worked at some excellent venues in this city including Neighborhood Services as sous chef.
Barnett is working on his own restaurant and will be performing these magical dinners in Deep Ellum until that time. His talent weighs heavy on excellent and imaginative as evidenced by this French-inspired dinner which was placed before the eager group last evening.
Bordeaux Picnic Plate with duck liver pate and peach gastric
Texas Pea Cassoulet, Caramelized Navarro Shallots, Duck Confit
Slow Roasted Quail en Crouté, mixed field mushrooms, Chef’s garden herbs
Toasted Pecan Pot de Crème
You may contact chef Barnett concerning future dinners or private chef events at ChefRB@me.com
