Brackets On Mockingbird Closes

by Steven Doyle

Brackets which is located on Mockingbird adjacent to the Palomar Dallas has shuttered. Haven’t heard of Brackets? It was a huge sports bar with an identity crisis. In recent months portions of the cavernous space were parceled out and word is now that the Palomar will make a go of something in that very spot.

Update: We just spoke with chef Graham Dodds at Central 214 and he confirmed the closure. Seems there was a huge children’s birthday party last night and they were a bit dissapointed to find that Brackets had closed. The group of kids trekked into Dodd’s restaurant where he treated them to some of his farm-to-table tater tots.

45 orders of Windy Meadows chicken fingers, stat!

  1. in a shocking turn of events, they have figured out that a Tiki bar, a champagne bar and an overpriced “upscale” sports bar centered around ping pong…don’t work in a spot with no parking in the middle of college housing completely separated from any other nightlife in the city.

how do good business people struggle to get financing and someone bankrolls these idiotic ideas?

Identity crisis indeed — have ping pong, video games, and shuffleboard available, but then try to discourage kids from being there. My kids loved going there, and we did, despite the at-best-mediocre food, but we felt less and less welcome as time wore on.
