The tastiest holiday of the year is upon us – Texas Chicken Fried Steak Day. The official Texas holiday celebrates the soul food of the Lone Star state with restaurants across the state participating by offering chicken fried steak specials, entertainment and a whole lot of chicken fried every year on October 26.
In 2011, Texas Chicken Fried Steak Day Founder and bigInk PR CEO Jeffrey Yarbrough worked to have October 26 officially recognized as Texas Chicken Fried Steak Day. On May 30, 2011, State Representative Ralph Sheffield, Speaker of the House Joe Straus and Chief Clerk Robert Haney signed the resolution proclaiming the holiday.
“As a seventh generation Texan, I felt compelled to get the Texas favorite the attention it deserves,” says Yarbrough. “No one does chicken fried like Texans, so why not celebrate our chicken fried pride and joy?!”
Yarbrough urges restaurants across the state to join him in celebrating this savory holiday. Restaurants and chefs can join in on the fun by contacting Jeffrey Yarbrough at Jeffrey@biginkpr.
We plan to celebrate in grand style. Guess where this chicken fried steak that is pictured above comes from and win a $100 gift certificate to that restaurant. We will randomly select from correct answers on Friday, October 26, 2012. Peace, Love and Chicken Fried Steak.
