Taste Addison Adds New Experiences

Taste Addison continues to celebrate the culinary and performing arts, and this year the famed fest is treating all your senses with the addition of the visual arts. The event has added a veritable smorgasbord of artistic experiences, with a little something for every vibe. Each day of the three-day festival, May 31-June 2, visitors can experience a wide range of artistic styles and installations. All these artistic experiences are included with a Taste Addison general admission ticket.

The roundabout drive of the Addison Conference Centre is driving creativity this year at Taste Addison with some of the region’s most talented chalk artists.  Featured artists will be onsite throughout the weekend working on their masterpieces so you can catch them in action, too!  Featured artists include:

·       Santos Lozano, a Plano-based art teacher and muralist

·       Pete Taboada, a visionary artist who creates art for seekers of self-empowerment, expansion, enlightenment and love.

·       Carissa Nalley, a full-time multidisciplinary artist specializing in an array of media who loves capturing the essence of life. 

 Multi-disciplinary new media artist James Talambas is known for creating site-specific, multi-dimensional and multi-sensory sculptures and murals. Talambas invites visitors to taste “The Addison” on the Main Stage at the Addison Theatre Centre. His immersive work pays a playful homage to French painter Georges Seurat with the inclusion of music and sound design that will enhance the projections in the space.

 California-born Fernando Olivares relocated recently to Addison, Texas, and is bringing his unique visual and rendering style to Taste Addison’s Stone Cottage. His influences draw on music, pop culture, the wild and social realism, as well as the Chicano culture he grew up around.  For Taste Addison, Olivares is creating an immersive experience that will allow Taste Addison festivalgoers to experience with all five senses – all in one space.  

The Addison Conference Centre will host a variety of fine art as it is transformed into the Hall of Art, presented by Kenny’s Restaurant Group. Diners from across North Texas know Celebrity ChefKenny Bowers for his delicious culinary art, but now they can experience his abstract art on display in the festival’s Hall of Art. After years of using whisks and tongs, Bowers has naturally gravitated to a palette knife over a brush.

Located inside the Conference Centre lobby, Bowers’ work will be on display and available for purchase all weekend long, with 100% of sales benefiting St. Jude’s. Other local artists will also pop-up in the Hall of Art to create an incredible interactive, engaging and top-notch experience.

Performing arts are spilling into the visual arts in the Theatre Studio of the Addison Theatre Centre with the Studio 24 Silent Disco.  Guests are invited to check out the beats and enjoy the artsy treats that come with lights and music in this cool space all weekend long. DJ Luna Texas will be onsite throughout the weekend to help set the vibe.

Along the beautiful Addison Circle Park pergola, guests can enjoy the Sip & Stroll Art Walk. Dozens of curated artisans and makers will share their wares in this new Taste Addison installation. Alongside the Art Walk, acclaimed muralist Mari Pohlman has been commissioned to create a large-scale mural that doubles as a program detailing all the events at Taste Addison. 

Throughout the Sip & Stroll Art Walk as well as nearby at the nearby Shoppers Row and Marketplace, visitors to Taste Addison will have the opportunity to find artistic creations for purchase.
