This weekend, cancel all your plans. Better yet, make plans to spend your weekend at the Truck Yard. Because all the cool kids will be drinking cocktails from coconuts, and you clearly don’t want to miss out on that. It’s all going down on Friday, August 1 and Saturday, August 2 from 5 p.m. until the coconuts run out, where mixologist extraordinaire Jason Kosmas created a trio of special cocktails served inside actual coconuts.
So here’s what you’ll do: first, call everyone you know and invite them to Truck Yard. Good. Then, show up. Great. Next, you’ll be given special tools and instructions on how to expertly hammer open the top of a coconut, a vital skill in the event of desert survival or the presence of rum. And lastly, Truck Yard bartenders will pour a perfectly-mixed cocktail into the coconut that will complement the young coconut water that’s already inside. That’s synergy, folks.
The drinks: · Lada Colada – pineapple-infused Caña Brava Rum, lime juice and simple syrup · Lime in d’ Coconut – Fords Gin, lime juice and Angostura Bitters · My Tie – Caña Brava Rum, lime juice, orgeat syrup and orange liqueurPair any of those cocktails (or all of those cocktails) with electrolyte-charged coconut water, and you’ve got yourself a weekend.
The drinks are created by Jason Kosmas, the mustachioed barman who’s worked at some of Dallas’s best bars and co-founded The 86 Co., the group behind Aylesbury Duck Vodka, Caña Brava Rum, Fords Gin and Tequila Cabeza.
Sample your coconut laden cocktail (sans a swallow) this Friday, August 1 and Saturday, August 2 at 5 pm (100 coconuts per day) for a mere $10 per drink. These all pair wonderfully with the Truck Yard’s enormous cheesesteak.
