Local wine, cheese, beer and now spirits are winning medals in tough national competitions. Duckworth Distillery of Dallas (right behind the Home Depot on Lemmon) just won Bronze with their Texas Vodka at the 2015 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. This is a doubly good achievement since this is Duckworth’s first product and this is their first competition.
You can taste Duckworth Vodka at the distillery and check out the stills between noon and 6pm (Happy Hour is 5pm-6pm) weekdays. Bottles are available for $24.
The distillery was named after Lee Fuqua’s grandfather, H. E. Duckworth, a pioneer in the fruit juice business in Texas. Duck, as he was known, loved a good highball, and Lee has made the commitment to produce only the best spirits that his Papa would be proud of. If Fuqua sounds familiar, it is the name of the former winery that recently closed to make way for the distillery.
Great Job Lee Congratulations!
