Horseshoe Hill Cafe Opening in Stockyards

gradyby Trey Moran

I met up with elusive chef Grady Spears over the weekend to check out his new endeavor in the Fort Worth  Stockyards, Horseshoe Hill Cafe. At the moment it’s not much from the outside and even less to look at inside. Construction is underway and he expects to be complete and open in about six weeks. Chef Spears is planning for this to be a much more casual atmosphere than his previous restaurants.

The menu will be centered around various incarnations of his staple item, the chicken fried steak. He will also be offering up dry aged meats, various tacos, calf fries by the dozen as well as a few other favorites. He is also moving away from traditional restaurant ordering and opting for the smokehouse style where you order as you come in and the menu is presented on a chalkboard behind the counter. There will also be a service window for beer and wine for those waiting outside.

Spears has a some way to go to get this one up and running, but if nothing else the food will be a welcomed addition to this part of Cowtown. Spears has a huge local following and I expect he will bring in quite a bit of traffic for the area. He might also be a hit with the late night crowd from the bars and clubs that surround the new place.

Horseshoe Hill Cafe is in the former Sabroso Sabrosito location at 204 W Exchange Ave in Fort Worth.
