There will be plenty of celebrating to go around and we want to direct you to some of our favorite ways to enjoy Mardi Gras. From great restaurants, cocktails and king cakes, we have you covered. In New Orleans the festivities run from February 9-13, so there is no reason to wait for Fat Tuesday. Be sure to tag us when you are out enjoy your evening. Laissez les bons temps rouler!
Hookline celebrates Fat Tuesday with an all-day celebration that brings the fun and revelry of Mardi Gras to Plano. Enjoy an all-day crawfish boil that will make you feel like you are on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. Chef Aaron Nelson has created special Fat Tuesday libations including an authentic New Orleans-style Hurricane, The Sazarac, Dark & Stormy and The Cinco De Bayou, that are just $5 each. Drink specials also include $3 long necks and $3 draft beers. The Just Friends Dixie Land Band will perform from 5 to 10 p.m. to bring the party to Plano. Adorn yourself with complimentary Mardi Gras beads from Hookline and enjoy the celebration.

OCarnivale Mardi Gras Ball is Saturday, February 10th at the Kessler in Oak Cliff. Look for bands, dinner, dancing, beads and costumes along with live music by Club Wood, the Rosemont Kings and the Kickin’ Brass Band. Your ticket to the ball includes etoufee, red beans and rice, crab cakes, hushpuppies, coconut shrimp, shrimp cocktail, cajun wings, and dirty rice from Sunset Crab Shack. King Cake provided by Oak Cliff’s very own, Vera’s Bakery. The party starts at 7pm (dinner begins at 7pm) and ends around midnight. Proceeds from the Ball help fund the Mardi Gras Oak Cliff Parade on Sunday, February 11th.
No need to make travel plans to New Orleans for your favorite French-inspired fare, Mercat Bistro, nestled in the Harwood District has a variety of delicious menu items to help enjoy Mardi Gras while in Dallas – Fort Worth. Dishes such as Croissants, Strawberry & Mascarpone Crepe, and French Baguette Sandwich are just a few that you can enjoy on February 13, 2018.
In celebration of the holiday, special NOLA-inspired items will be offered at Legacy Hall from open to close, including king cake donuts by Glazed Donut Works and beignets by Haute Sweets Patisserie. Of course, it’s not a Fat Tuesday party without Mardi Gras-themed drinks and Legacy Hall’s drinks specials will give you the best excuse to drink on a weekday. $6 Hall Grenades and Hurricane specials will be available on all three levels, including the pop-up bar on the third floor. The all day party will kick into full gear with a parade starting at 6:30 p.m., complete with a live marching band (Big D Marching Band) playing sporadic New Orleans style procession throughout the food hall. At 7 p.m., venture up to the Tap Room on the third floor to enjoy live music by solo jazz piano artist Daniel Porter. The 55,000-square-foot food hall will be decked out in New Orleans décor, with beads, masks and banners, creating the perfect backdrop for pictures.
Tricky Fish, City-Line’s most festive dining destination, will celebrate Mardi Gras with $5 Hurricanes all day on Fat Tuesday, February 13. The restaurant features a full array of Cajun-inspired cuisine, including arguably the best fried okra in North Texas.
The Rustic’s third annual Mardi Craw Party this Fat Tuesday. The Uptown hot spot is celebrating Mardi Gras bayou-style by serving up authentic Cajun cooking and cocktails on Tuesday, Feb. 13. In addition to its delicious menu of farm-fresh, homestyle dishes, The Rustic will be offering its twist on Louisiana-inspired food and drink staples.
Tomar and the FCs will be headlining the party between sets by DJ Christy Ray, who will be spinning New Orleans-inspired tunes starting at 5:30 p.m. Tomar and the FCs lead singer Tomar Williams describes his band’s sound as “a soul base with a cool sprinkle of rock n’ roll and a little hot sauce of funk.” The five-piece Austin-based band’s captivating tunes and crowd-pleasing performances have gained them quick success, performing at popular venues and festivals like Austin City Limits.

Krewe De Etoile, the Official Mardi Gras Krewe of the Dallas Metroplex, Gala Masquerade Bal, is a star-studded evening, featuring our 2018 A-List Royal Court in full regalia depicting our chosen theme, “Dallas Mardi Gras, A Whimsical Wonderland.” Laced with numerous special guests, and spotlighting our 2018 chosen charity, City Square, this Gala is sure to parallel the majesty of the seasons authentic Bals of New Orleans. The annual Oak Cliff Mardi Gras Parade, held in the newly rejuvenated Bishop Arts District, is a fun, family-friendly explosion of sounds and colors and good times. The 2018 Parade is Sunday, February 11th at 4pm.
Mardi Gras goes to the dogs as hundreds of costumed pups take to the streets of downtown McKinney for the 16th annual Krewe of Barkus dog parade. This year’s theme is “The Bark-A-Palooza Tour Around the World,” which celebrates countries and cultures across the globe. Spectators will line the streets to view canines in costume, with prizes awarded in multiple categories. Patterned after the legendary Krewe of Barkus parade in New Orleans, the McKinney festival includes vendor booths and free activities for the whole family A small fee to enter the costume contest or register a float; free to watch or walk in the parade without a float. Check-in for parade participants at 12:30 p.m. at Mitchell Park. The parade starts at 2 p.m.
Crawfish and other classic Louisiana favorites are on the menu to celebrate Mardi Gras at Ragin’ Crab Cafe. The Ragin’ Crab Cafe has a strong menu of craft draft beers (Dallas Blonde, Deep Ellum IPA; Revolver Blood and Honey) and bottled craft beers, as well as hand-crafted New Orleans-inspired signature cocktails.
The 17th Annual Boudin Ball will feature music by Time Machine Band, an open bar, light hors d’oeuvres, dancing and more. Masquerade costumes and masks are encouraged. Cocktail attire is required; black tie is optional. Proceeds benefit the North Texas Food Bank.
Every year The Free Man hosts the annual Deep Ellum Mardi Gras Parade. The event features many of the players who play The Free Man and a wild assortment of volunteer musicians. The beauty is you too are part of the party! Dress the part and have an awesome time! Directly after the Parade you will see performances at The Free Man by The Free Loaders and Big A$$ Brass Band. Great Cajun fare including mudbugs and gumbo.
NOLA Brasserie brings the Cajun and Creole taste and exuberance of New Orleans to Dallas. Big Easy favorites such as Crawfish Etouffee, Louisiana Gumbo and the Frenchman’s Po’boy are prepared from scratch with Louisiana-sourced ingredients. A delicious lunch and dinner menu are offered featuring authentic NOLA cuisine. Look for hand crafted cocktails, like their NOLA Rum Punch, Mama’s Moonshine, and Lavender Lace make for the perfect complement to your down home meal.
The Party started on Live Oak 13 years ago when Bucky Moonshine was The Alligator Cafe. It is one of the best parties you will get on Fat Tuesday. This year TuTu Jones will perform. They will have Hurricane and other drink specials and lots of beads. Fresh boiled crawfish available and plenty of Cajun food to go around. They start at 5pm and end at midnight, band starts at 7pm. Call ahead for big groups because they will no doubt be busy. Opening for TuTu will be Dallas newcomer Dylan Vinita.
Celebrate at the Metroplex’s original Mardi Gras headquarters, Nate’s Seafood in Addison. This marks their 30th annual Mardi Gras Celebration. We will be offering Beads, Over 40 Musicians, Crawfish, and $4 Hurricanes all day.
Razzoo’s Cajun Cafe has become on of our favorite Cajun haunts in Dallas with their scratch made Louisiana food that pleases every time. February 5-13 all Razzoo’s locations will feature a wide array of specials. Specials include $5 small plates, including Cajun Cracklin’ & Crispy Chips with Loaded Cheese Dip, Boudin Balls, Rat Toes (Shrimp & Crab Stuffed Jalapenos), and Fried Pickles. Additionally, guests can order Peel & Eat Shrimp for only $0.75 each. Drink specials include $3.50 frozen Hurry-canes, Mardi Ritas and Abita Amber Draft.

Rush Patisserie in Oak Cliff makes the Louisiana-style king cake in two sizes: a small (individual size) for $5 and a 10-inch round for $22. The cakes come in classic cinnamon or praline, and they are decorated in the traditional Mardi Gras colors. Because the cakes are baked fresh, you need to call 214-749-4040 to place an order. Very non-traditional hours.
Tart Bakery on Lovers Lane makes King Cakes in traditional cinnamon, berry cream cheese, orange, and pralines & cream. Their 9″ (serves 10 -12) is $28 and a 12″ (serves 24 – 30) costs $45.
Village Baking Co. Boulangerie on Greenville Avenue makes the French-style king cake (galette de rois) from flaky puff pastry filled with buttery almond cream. Each cake has a tiny figurine hidden inside — a mini king, baby Jesus, sheep, cow and more —and comes with a crown, for whomever gets the slice with a charm.
