Notably, Pritchard was the driving force behind Fat Daddy’s Pizza in Provo, Utah, where his commitment to exceptional pizza was on full display. His philosophy of pizza making is centered on its “intricate simplicity,” emphasizing that despite its basic components—bread, sauce, and cheese—the final product must be nothing short of extraordinary. “What I love about being a pizza maker is all the cookery that goes into making a great pizza. It’s not easy. Its complexity lies in its simplicity. You better make it amazing,” he explains.

Pritchard’s passion for teaching has been a fulfilling extension of his culinary career. Although he initially pursued a career in teaching during college, academic challenges led him to culinary school. He eventually realized his teaching aspirations through roles at the Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Dallas and as a high school culinary instructor in Allen. “Teaching has been a fulfillment of a dream for me. I wanted to be a teacher when I was in college. But I didn’t do well in school, so I dropped out and went to culinary school instead. I never thought I’d get to teach in a high school. It’s been great,” he reflects.

The transition from teaching adults to high school students has been both challenging and rewarding. Pritchard values the unique energy and humor that high schoolers bring to the classroom. “High schoolers are a new challenge for me. I’ve never taught this level before. Teaching adults is much different. They are eager to learn. They like to laugh and don’t take their cooking too seriously. They’ve taught me to really slow down and enjoy cooking for the sake of cooking rather than cooking for speed,” he notes. This shift has deepened his appreciation for the culinary arts and the joy of teaching.

Pritchard’s approach to pizza and teaching is rooted in transparency and authenticity. He rejects the notion of secret recipes, believing that sharing knowledge is essential to preserving the craft. “I have no secrets when I cook. I don’t believe in secret recipes. That’s the only way to protect the craft, is to pass it along,” he asserts.

In his personal life, Pritchard keeps his pizza preferences simple, favoring classic toppings like Pepperoni or Margarita with extra Parmesan and crushed red pepper. “I’m a simple pizza fan. I really don’t eat more than about three toppings on a pizza,” he reveals. This minimalist approach reflects his broader philosophy of focusing on quality and simplicity.

Pritchard is married to wife, Kimber and has five children who all have an interest in all things culinary. Kimber is a food scientist, and the children all dine amazingly well.
