Hutchins BBQ, one of Dallas-Fort Worth’s best-known BBQ institutions, has announced the second annual holiday for one of its most iconic menu items, National Texas Twinkie Day. Created by Hutchins BBQ and celebrated on Wednesday, Oct. 16, the day marks the halfway point between Texas Independence Day and National BBQ Month.
With last year’s National Texas Twinkie Day resulting in over 4,500 Texas Twinkies being sold between Hutchins BBQ’s McKinney and Frisco locations, the BBQ powerhouse has big plans for its 2024 celebrations. Texas Twinkies will now be available from 11 a.m.–9 p.m. for just $3 each, with a maximum of four per person, while supplies last.

The $3 Texas Twinkies are only the start of the big event! From 5 –8 p.m., Hutchins BBQ will host a raffle at its Frisco and McKinney restaurants where proceeds will be donated to Frisco Family Services and Samaritan Inn, respectively. Raffle prizes include Dallas Cowboys tickets, a Traeger Grill, and gift cards to SCHEELS Sporting Goods, Tecovas and, of course, Hutchins BBQ. The first 50 guests at each location to purchase tickets will be given a free, exclusive National Texas Twinkie Day shirt.
“We’ve been continuously blessed by the support of our customers the past couple of years, especially by their love of our Texas Twinkies,” said Tim Hutchins, co-owner of Hutchins BBQ. “National Texas Twinkie Day is a chance for new and returning guests to join us and try one of our best-selling menu items while also giving back to two great organizations in our community.”
The Original Texas Twinkie, which was initially created by Hutchins BBQ as a way to use up leftover brisket, takes an extra-large jalapeño that’s deseeded and stuffed with cream cheese and flavorful chopped brisket. It’s then wrapped with thick-cut bacon, smoked low and slow and then finished with Hutchins BBQ’s house-made rib glaze.
