Bedford Lodging is renovating a onetime Dallas firehouse to build a hotel and restaurant. Construction on the firehouse, built in 1911, is nearly complete. The cost of the project is expected to reach $27 million.
The 153-room hotel at 503 Bryan Ave will be called the Nobleman Hotel. The building will also feature a restaurant called The Duchess. The hotel will be under the Hilton flag.
The old Fire Station No. 5 will also feature a pool, fitness center and 1,500-square-foot meeting and outdoor event spaces. In total, the space is about 100,000 square feet.
The fire station closed in 1965 and had a number of tenants over the years. The building is registered on the National Register of Historic Places.
The exterior of the building remains untouched, and the windows are being refurbished. On the inside, visitors will see a fire pole and a staircase that are being repurposed. The hotel will have 32 extended stay suites equipped with kitchenettes.
