Stars & Stripes Sangria Batch Cocktails

There’s something timeless about the Fourth of July. It’s a day when backyards transform into concert halls for cicadas and classic rock, when the air smells like grilled corn, sunscreen, and sparklers, and when everyone—just for a moment—leans into the beauty of summer’s loudest, proudest holiday. The flag waves a little brighter, the kids run a little faster, and the drinks? Well, they better be as spirited as the celebration itself.

That’s where a good batch cocktail comes in. Whether you’re hosting the neighborhood block party, lounging by the lake, or just gathering a few friends for fireworks, a festive pitcher of something chilled, colorful, and crowd-pleasing is the secret weapon of any host. It has to be easy to prep, built for sharing, and look good doing it. And if it happens to be red, white, and blue? Even better.

Enter the Stars & Stripes Sangria—a drink as celebratory as the holiday itself. Made with crisp white wine, bright citrus, and fresh summer berries, this cocktail bursts with patriotic flair and refreshing flavor. It’s the kind of drink you sip on the porch while laughing through stories, the kind that turns a regular cookout into a real celebration.

Because on Independence Day, your drink shouldn’t just toast freedom. It should taste like it.

Stars & Stripes Sangria

This festive red, white, and blue sangria is perfect for a Fourth of July gathering—refreshing, colorful, and easy to make ahead. It highlights fresh summer fruit, a hint of citrus, and a crisp, slightly sweet wine base. It’s both a showstopper and a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients (serves 10–12):

  • 2 bottles dry white wine (Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio work well)
  • 1 cup citrus vodka (or plain vodka)
  • 1/2 cup orange liqueur (such as Cointreau or Triple Sec)
  • 1/2 cup simple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 1 cup sliced strawberries
  • 1 1/2 cups diced pineapple
  • 1 apple, cut into star shapes with a small cookie cutter (optional but adorable)
  • 1 can (12 oz) lemon-lime soda or sparkling water, added just before serving
  • Ice and fresh mint, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Prep the fruit: Slice strawberries, dice pineapple, and cut apple slices into stars if you’re feeling extra festive.
  2. Mix the base: In a large pitcher or drink dispenser, combine the white wine, vodka, orange liqueur, and simple syrup. Stir well.
  3. Add the fruit: Toss in the blueberries, strawberries, pineapple, and apple stars. Let the mixture chill in the fridge for at least 4 hours—or overnight for maximum flavor.
  4. Just before serving: Add lemon-lime soda or sparkling water to give it a light fizz.
  5. Serve over ice, garnish with a sprig of mint and a few pieces of fruit in each glass.

Freeze some of the fruit ahead of time so it doubles as an edible ice cube—keeping the sangria cold without watering it down.

Pro tip: Serve in a clear dispenser or punch bowl to show off the red, white, and blue layers. It’s practically fireworks in a glass.
