After nearly three decades, a Dallas dining institution near Preston Center will be closing its doors. Sevy’s Grill, a fixture on the 8200 block of Preston Road and a longtime favorite of the city’s power lunch crowd, will serve its final meal at this location on June 27, 2026. The closure comes after the team was unable to secure a fourth 10-year lease, according to a statement on the restaurant’s Facebook page. The beloved eatery was founded in 1997 by Jim “Sevy” Severson and has been a consistent presence in Dallas’ dining scene ever since.
“Change is always a challenge, but we are very excited about the future ahead,” the post read. “We have been blessed with such great guests, staff, investors, purveyors, fellow tenants, and a wonderful neighborhood that has inspired us to do our best every day. Our focus now is to finish these next six-plus months taking care of our guests and staff at the same caring level we built our brand on: warm, professional service, consistently good food, and a comfortable ambiance where the guest is always first.”
Although the Preston Road location will close, Sevy’s Grill is actively searching for a new home. The team hopes to continue serving Dallas diners in the future, maintaining the quality and hospitality that has earned them such a loyal following over the years.

Part of what has made Sevy’s so special is the longevity of its staff. Eight team members have been with the restaurant for all 29 years, with an average tenure in the kitchen exceeding 15 years, supported by a management team familiar to countless patrons. “Come support our staff as we celebrate the next six-plus months,” the announcement encouraged.
Sevy’s also reflected on the many challenges they have weathered: economic downturns, market bubbles, Y2K, and the COVID era, expressing gratitude for the support of their community through it all. For nearly 30 years, Sevy’s Grill has been a place for memorable meals, familiar faces, and reliable hospitality—a legacy that diners will carry with them even after the doors close.
