Cedars Social Under New Ownership


Restaurateur and long-time hospitality industry expert Jeffrey Yarbrough took over The Cedars Social alongside Chad Boyle, his former business partner at Liberty Noodle. The two have brought together an all-star team to run and revitalize the bar including restaurant and night club veterans Michael Morris of 2826 and Martini Ranch, Dirk Kelcher and Mark Kelcher of Ron’s Place and General Manager Jeremy Poyo. Original barman Michael Martensen will remain a founding partner.

This team alongside land developer Jack Matthews of Matthews Southwest feels that as a part of the Southside community, it is their duty to keep one of the most highly-rated cocktail bars and restaurants Dallas has ever seen alive. They look forward to bringing The Cedars Social back to its fullest potential.   Continue reading

There Have Been A Few Moves In Dallas Hospitality

There have been a few moves recently in the Dallas hospitality world and we are happy to report on a few of these today.

Do you miss Charlie Palmer Maître d’hôtel Enam Chowdhury? I was happy when I saw him working the room at Bistro 31 in Highland Park Village this weekend. Enam is a wonderful host and a perfect addition to the restaurant.

Looking for ex-Oak exec chef Jason Maddy? We spotted him in the Cedars Social kitchen this weekend. No one has confirmed his status as of yet, but it was good to see him none the less.   Continue reading

Shucking With Michael Martensen

This weekend Brian Williams and Michael Martensen threw a party in the parking lot of The Establishment, their latest restaurant which opens in December 2012. The lot was packed full of people seeking out 14 varieties of oysters, Cane Rosso pizza, and a small variety of beer, champagne and oyster shooters using Aylesbury Duck Vodka.     Continue reading

Ehlert Chef de Cuisine At Hibiscus

Chef Michael Ehlert has landed back in a Dallas kitchen after staging briefly at Cedars Social. In the past month Ehlert has been offered more than a few positions in Dallas, but finally accepted the chef de cuisine gig at Hibiscus located on Henderson Avenue.     Continue reading

Cedars Social Kyle McClelland To Guest Chef At CampO

Campo Modern Country Bistro and Executive Chef Kyle McClelland of Cedars Social pair-up for an extraordinary 7-course dinner on Wednesday, May 9th. Bar opens at 6 p.m. and dinner is at 7 p.m.

The 7-course feast includes Oysters, Foie Torchon, Live Diver Scallops, Pan Roasted Alaskan Halibut, Beef Two Ways, Artisan Cheese and Strawberry Cremeux. Cost is $65 per person, exclusive of beverages, tax and gratuity.   Continue reading
