Cedar Social Herradura Tequila Launch Party

cedarby Alex Gonzalez

Last Thursday, the ladies of The Cedars Social closed the restaurant down for a dinner to celebrate the launch of new cocktails featuring their new signature tequila blend. Leann Berry (bar manager and continuously named best bartender by many included CraveDFW), Monica Green (owner), and Anastacia Quinones (Rising Star Chef) traveled to Mexico to create the perfect blend. After experimenting with 240 bottles, the trifecta was able to craft the perfect double barrel reposado blend, which is now available exclusively at The Cedars Social.

The launch dinner consisted of four courses, the first of which was a plate of Enchiladas Potosinas, containing potato, cheese, onion, and Guajillo salsa. The Enchiladas were paired with a cocktail containing Herradura silver, aloe liqueur, pear and peach puree, and lime. The cocktail made for a good starter. Sweet to the point where it had a taste similar to that of white grape juice, and strong enough to set the bar for what was in store for the rest of the night. Continue reading

Celebrate National Margarita Day With A Few Friends

stampedeby Steven Doyle

It is National Margarita Day. These foodie holidays can be a bit wearisome, but this is one day I can circle my wagon around. It also happens to fall on Chili Day, which we have provided handily for you to enjoy. But let’s take a look at some specials going on today and a look at our favorites. Because it is a day to celebrate.

We spoke with Leann Berry last night, she is part of the Dream Team who re-opened Cedars Social recently. Berry is the ace bartendress behind the new concept and has been named repeatedly one of the best bartenders in Texas, and even more specifically one who makes the best margarita. If you are out running the cocktail beat tonight, you will want to stop by for a visit.  Continue reading

Cedars Social To Re-Open With Modern Mexican Menu

IMG_0889by Steven Doyle

Sixteen years ago a young chef named Anastacia Quinones approached restaurateur Monica Greene looking to work at the famed Ciudad in Dallas, which at the time was Greene’s premier modern Mexican restaurant located in Dallas. It wasn’t necessarily a good fit then, but fast forward to this week and we find the couple have finally teamed up for something new in the Cedars Social space. The name will remain Cedar Social, but the cuisine will be all about modern Mexican.

“I have put together the dream team which includes Anastacia Quinones and Leann Berry, and business partner Frankie Jimenez,” Greene told us today. Continue reading

There Have Been A Few Moves In Dallas Hospitality

enamby Steven Doyle

There have been a few moves recently in the Dallas hospitality world and we are happy to report on a few of these today.

Do you miss Charlie Palmer Maître d’hôtel Enam Chowdhury? I was happy when I saw him working the room at Bistro 31 in Highland Park Village this weekend. Enam is a wonderful host and a perfect addition to the restaurant.

Looking for ex-Oak exec chef Jason Maddy? We spotted him in the Cedars Social kitchen this weekend. No one has confirmed his status as of yet, but it was good to see him none the less.   Continue reading
