Martini Fest Saturday, August 16 At Cool River

martiniby Steven Doyle

We checked into the Martini Festival at Cool River last year, and it lived mightily up to its name. There were twenty brands with their various representatives mixing up martinis , both stirred and shaken. In addition, the crowd noshed on some pretty terrific appetizers. If that wasn’t enough, they raffled off plenty of nifty items to keep the crowd interested. If this sounds like something you might enjoy doing this Saturday night, then make your reservations now by calling the cats at Cool River, 972.871.8881.  The party begins this Saturday, August 16 at 7:30. See you there.

Cool River Hosts Duckhorn For A Wonderful Evening Of Food, Wine And Bliss

DSC01171by Steven Doyle

It may have been a bit since you checked out Cool River, the super cool steak house in Las Colinas with an upscale sports theme on the bar half of the building. However long it has been, you may have missed a golden opportunity to relive some excitement. This past weekend Cool River played host to Duckhorn Vineyard’s Ashley O’Leary who brought with her some pretty amazing wines for patrons to sample. To pair courses with the dinner executive chef Rodman Shields and Cool River’s wine director wine director Dave Fiegel collaborated to bring guests a heightened experience.

Duckhorn Vineyards has spent more than 30 years establishing itself as one of North America’s premier producers of Bordeaux varietal wines. From its modest inaugural vintage of 800 cases of Cabernet Sauvignon and 800 cases of Merlot in 1978, to its addition of Sauvignon Blanc in 1982, Duckhorn Vineyards has crafted a tradition of quality and excellence that continues today.

It was a truly amazing evening, and guests soon found that Cool River’s Shields is an amazing chef. Check out the dinner and pairings for the evening. Be sure to add yourself to the mailing list for future dinners.     Continue reading

A Night Of Martinis and Madmen At Cool River

kk3by Kenny Kuczwaj

After all the great Vodka I sampled Saturday Night I was surprised I could write this article. A packed house in the ever spacious Cool River in Las Colinas sampled so many great vodka brands. Chef Rodman Sheilds provided passed appetizers to offset the onslaught of the free pouring vodka. Stuffed mushrooms, ahi bruschetta with pineapple, crab cakes and the best stuffed jalapenos wrapped in bacon I have had in a long time, complemented the interesting cocktails that were being served .

There were lots of familiar brands being poured like absolute, ultimate , Tito’s , Grey Goose , Svdeka ( being manned by my good buddy Todd from Constellation) and there were a few new brands to try as well.    Continue reading
