This Week On craveRADIO We Crash Kent Rathbun’s BBQ Workshop

This week on craveRADIO you will hear the show we produced at Kent Rathbun’s BBQ Workshop at his catering facility, KB Woodfire Grill in Plano.  The show was fast paced with more guests than we normally host including Kent Rathbun and KB catering chef Jeff Qualls who is a CIA graduate and has worked at some very notable kitchen.

In addition to the chefs we also chatted up representatives from The Green Egg, that marvelous grill that can cook virtually anything outdoors. We also visited with Four Corner’s Brewing Company owner George Esquivel who was supplying beer for the evening. Esquivel talks about the beer they are currently brewing and the new brew pub that premiers this weekend in Trinity Groves.    Continue reading

craveRADIO: Meet Chef Tiffany Derry and Jonathan Wingo from Belvanie

If you missed craveRADIO this past Sunday, you missed a whole lot of talking. We had chef darling Tiffany Derry in the studio, and she was talking up her new television program that will soon be premiering on Spike TV, Hunger Investors. This new program will pit two restaurant gems in the rough and have them compete for a barrel full of cash to make improvements to their menu, service and ultimately their bottom line.

Tiffany was kind enough to chat through our many Top Chef questions, and was particularly interesting to hear about her many other under-takings as a speaker as  she travels across the country inspiring students that they are able to make their mark as a chef, or any other career that they might be interested in.    Continue reading

This Sunday on craveRADIO Meet Matt McCallister and Kate Weiser

This Sunday on craveRADIO listen in to a great guest line up including chef Matt McCallister of the FT33 fame who is also the founder of Chefs for Farmers, the beautiful outdoor cheffy event that raises awareness to local farmers and ranchers that is taking place November 3, 2013 in Lee Park. We will find out what is going on in that stellar mind of Matt’s and maybe he will discuss some of his past that lead him to being a chef.

Also on the program we will have as guest the very sweet Kate Weiser, formerly of Chocolate Secrets and is opening her very own chocolate shop in Trinity Groves. Kate has this fascinating look at chocolates and makes them ever so beautiful. We will no doubt have her discuss her big television debut as well.  Continue reading

Check Out This Week’s CraveRADIO!

If you missed craveRADIO this week you missed a lot of fun. Each Sunday the crew from craveDFW hits the airwaves on 1190am from 4 to 6pm and discusses a week of restaurants and fun events we hot during the week. The cast of characters includes Melissa Robert, Chef Uno Immanivong, Kenny Kuczwaj and myself, along with a few invited guests that includes top area chefs, restaurant owners and bartenders. We also speak to wine makers and brew masters.

This week we invited Chef Sharon Van Meter into the studio to discuss her projects at Trinity Groves that include her huge party venue, 3015, and the French restaurant that will be opening very soon, Beignet Bistro. We got the inside scoop on the menu at the Bistro and also chatted about the ultimate battle of Fork Fight where this week’s winner will be pitted against Van Meter.

We also learned a little bit about Van Meter’s chef background in Paris and working across the globe at some of the finest restaurants. She also shared the fact she was entered in the 1972 Olympics pitted against one Olga Korbut.        Continue reading

CraveRADIO: Meet Chef John Franke and Bonnie Wilson

Another week of craveRADIO and this past Sunday we enjoyed chatting with Chef John Franke from Frontburner, the restaurant group that operates Whiskey Cake, Velvet Taco, Ojos Locos, The Ranch In Las Colinas, Twin Peaks and Red Dog Right. Franke works the menus at each of the concepts along with a staff of chefs from each location.

The good chef brought in some tasty bites from Whiskey Cake including some addictive fire roasted shishito peppers, made simply with lemon and sea salt. He also served up a platter of bbq duck wings that were meatier than your average wing. And of course we shared plates of the namesake Whiskey Cake topped with fresh whipped cream.      Continue reading
