This weekend many of the top bartenders in town met for a summit to see who would represent the DFW area in Cointreau’s bartending throw down in New York City.  Sunday evening LeAnn Berry (Komali), Brian McCullough (Standard Pour), Trevor Landry (DISH), Abe Bedell (Oak), Omar Yeefoon (Cedars Social), Jason Kosmas (Village Marquee) and Emily Perkins (The Porch) all met at the new NYLO Southside to entertain invited guests and to mix cocktails made from a table of unusual ingredients.

Jason Kosmas Featured In Sept Issue Of Playboy

by Steven Doyle

Barman Jason Kosmas has a long list of accomplishments that he is most proud of. He is one of the owners of what many have called the best bar in the world, Employees Only. He has written a successful book, produced a line of cocktail mixers, and now a line of spirits.

A lengthy list of accomplishments you would think. But what will please his grandfather the most is the fact he made it in the September issue of Playboy.            Continue reading

A Visit To Tate’s Craft Cocktails

by Steven Doyle and Jason Kosmas

I stopped in Tate’s Craft Cocktails located on McKinney Avenue last week when I was tooling around town with cocktail maven Jason Kosmas and we met the new manager and chief barman, JW Tate. You may recall Tate’s opened in Dallas back in December with Matt Ceneviva at the helm. I spoke with Matt about JW and he said, “I worked with JW when he first started bartending and the grasshopper has actually outreached the master.”          Continue reading

The first restaurant to actually receive shipment of the brand was Malai Kitchen where Kosmas is the consulting barman. This week Malai announced their new summer cocktail menu designed by Kosmas where he uses his spirits in a few of the potent potables.     Continue reading

Jason Kosmas’ Vodka And Rum Now Available In Dallas Area

by Steven Doyle

Jason Kosmas might possibly be the busiest man in the bar business. He still has a stake in Employees Only in New York, which has been named the best bar in the world; he is also the executive beverage director at Village Marquee in Highland Park Village and occasionally lends himself out to consult on drink menus. Now the talented barman is introducing his own line of spirits and they hit the shelves local Sigel’s liquor stores this week. We caught up with Kosmas last evening to sample some of his new rum and vodka.             Continue reading
