There are some lovely bakeries in the Dallas area, like Pie Emporium (several locations now), Tart Bakery on Lovers Lane, Rush Patisserie in Oak Cliff, and the beloved Swiss Pastry Shop in Fort Worth all come quickly to mind. I Like Pie: Jack Daniels Pecan Pie at YO Ranch

Pecan pie often brings up notions of Thanksgiving for many, but at our office every day is a good pie day and pecan is one of the tops that can be found. Imagine the excitement when we discovered the Jack Daniels Pecan Pie at YO Ranch Steakhouse in Dallas’ West End. Norma’s Celebrates National Pie Day With Free Pie

For the sixth consecutive year, Norma’s Cafe, the original Dallas dining icon serving Texas-style home cooking, will celebrate National Pie Day by offering guests a free slice of its famous Mile-High Cream Pie on Friday, Jan. 23 at all three locations.

Chicken wings will always be all the rage in bars because they are so easy to make as they are to eat. Flavor delivered on its own natural stick, if you will. Donna’s Pie House Closed

Sad news in the pie world today. Donna’s Pie House has closed. Donna’s was located at 5600 Lover’s Lane and served up breakfast, delicious from scratch sandwiches and, of course, pie. Delicious, lovely pie. They were also noted for their pie bites, a two-bite handheld pie that came in dozens of flavors. For the holidays Donna’s would sell hundreds of pies and often had to cap off the amount they could make due to the shear volume. Continue reading →

Celebrate With Great Joy National Pie Day In Dallas

I have these lovely country loving Amish friends who when you see them will regale you with pie. These are by far the best pie bakers in the pie loving universe, and they do their magic without the means of a modern kitchen. It is a loving relationship that began with a slice of raisin cream pie. This is how all relationships should begin.

Today is National Pie Day, and I believe this springs up several times each year. No matter, it is a wonderful time to grab a slice or two around town, and of course, we have a list.
