First Look: Pizzeria Testa Now Open On Greenville AVenue

Bar 1by Steven Doyle

You recall Kirby’s steakhouse across from the Granada on Greenville Avenue, and more recently Wayward Sons the Graham Dodds resto which closed in February of 2017. It is a massive space yet the new tenant moved in a year after a major remodel and plans on being the best pizza inside the loop. I believe you will enjoy this Neapolitan pie. Some of you have tasted it year ago when we chatted about the Frisco location. It is good.

DFW has a smattering of pretty fantastic Neapolitan pizzerias including the the Frisco based  Pizzeria Testa Napoletana Restaurant which is owned by Rod Schaefer. Schaefer’s mother comes from a long line of Italian pizza makers. In fact the Testa family was once considered the royal pizza makers for the King of Naples.   Continue reading

The Neapolitan pizza craze continues to burn through the DFW area. The pizza is different, to be sure, but we have embraced this style which began with the first VPN certified pizzeria in Texas, Cavalli, which began its pie making in Irving.

Today DFW has a smattering of pretty fantastic Neapolitan pizzerias including the freshly opened Pizzeria Testa Napoletana Restaurant in Frisco which is owned by Rod Schaefer. Schaefer’s mother comes from a long line of Italian pizza makers. In fact the Testa family was once considered the royal pizza makers for the King of Naples.   Continue reading

To be included in a future edition of What’s Eating Your Phone, send those photos to me at steven@cravedfw.com. A brief description and location would be super helpful. Here are this week’s selections:    Continue reading

Kenny Checks Out Pizzeria Testa In Frisco

testa1by Ken Kucwaj

I finally stumbled into Pizzeria Testa in Frisco on a recent Sunday night to see what all the fuss is about. Being a skeptical New Yorker (and pizza expert, due to the thousands of slices consumed as a child) I was anxious to see what Michele D’ Amelio has created out of the two 7,000 pound Stefano Ferrara pizza ovens imported from Italy.

It’s Sunday Night in Frisco (ghost town) and this place is packed. We actually had to wait for a table. Once seated our server Allison was on the money. A true foodie and her passion for the product came through immediately.    Continue reading
