Portland’s Cinco de Mayo Fiesta

Now entering its 38th year, this beloved festival returns May 2–5, 2025, to Tom McCall Waterfront Park, offering a jubilant celebration of Mexican heritage—and a modern, interactive platform for cultural storytelling.

Founded in 1983 and organized by the Portland Guadalajara Sister City Association (PGSCA), the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta has grown into Oregon’s largest multicultural celebration, drawing more than 40,000 visitors annually from across the Pacific Northwest and beyond. At its heart, the festival represents a living bridge between Portland and its sister city of Guadalajara, Mexico—a decades-long partnership rooted in diplomacy, friendship, and cultural exchange.

Portland Based Thirsty Lion Opening in Irving, Colony

Thirsty Lion Gastropub & Grill, a Portland, Oregon-based restaurant concept known for its from-scratch cooking and seasonal menus with fresh and local ingredients and extensive craft beer menu, announced today that it will be opening its first Texas location in late September at the upcoming Irving Music Factory next to the Irving Convention Center.

Since opening its first location in Portland, Oregon, Thirsty Lion has quickly expanded into Arizona and Colorado and says that moving to Texas was an easy decision given its great business climate, dynamic cultural offerings, and established reputation as a sports and retail mecca. “We’re thrilled to be opening our first Texas location in Irving.
