Capriotti’s Moving Into Preston Center

The sub chain Capriotti’s is moving into the hot bed for restaurants in the Dallas area, Preston Center. The sandwich shop which has locations in Plano and Downtown Dallas will move into the old Extreme Pizza location located at 6112 Luther Lane in University Park.

Brunching At Blue Plate

Kent Rathbun never does anything half way, it is truly one of those ‘go big or go home’ moments when dining at any of the chef’s restaurants. This certainly holds true to Rathbun’s Blue Plate located in Dallas restaurant epicenter Preston Center located near Northwest Highway on Preston.

Just over a year ago Rathbun promoted Jennifer Newbold to command the kitchen at Blue Plate and she has been knocking out home runs each night. Each night during the week Newbold is plating up special dishes that has the neighborhood in a frenzy. Monday night’s enjoy BBQ which is actually a Rathbun family favorite that dates back to his childhood. The BBQ at Rathbun’s some of the city’s finest.       Continue reading

Ocho Kitchen Brings The Taste Of New Mexico To Dallas

Under the reigns of chef Eric DiStefano, Ocho Kitchen and Cocktails has morphed into a fantastic take on the New Mexico plate. His staff roasts fresh Anaheim chiles each day to create these full flavored dishes not too unlike he does at his restaurants in Santa Fe. I tried some of the menu when the restaurant opened just a few short months ago in Preston Center near Northwest Highway, and had a chance to sample the majority of them again this past weekend.

There have been several tweaks, and a few items removed (please bring back the lobster pancakes) and now the restaurant is snuggling into a familiar taste that is obviously bringing guests back each evening. They started brunch service three weeks ago, and that menu looks equally delicious. Continue reading

Dude, Sweet Chocolate owner Katherine Clapner wants you to have a sweet holiday season and has opened two new shops to assist you with your gifts and to satisfy your primal need for chocolate. The smallest version is at 8304 Preston Center Plaza in Dallas sandwiched between Taco Diner and R+D Kitchen, the other is in Fort Worth at 2925 Crockett. Both of these shops geographically enhance Dude, Sweet’s proliferation of Clapner’s special design on chocolate.  Continue reading

First Look: Hopdoddy Burger Bar

Hopdoddy Burger Bar opens its doors Wednesday, October 3, 2012 and is the latest transplant from Austin, Texas. Hopdoddy serves all natural beef ground fresh daily in its own grind room and cuts Kennebec spuds for their fries on premises.

Look for some really nice local beers from Dallas including selections from Deep Ellum Brewing Company, Peticolas, and around the state featuring brews from 512, St Arnold, Live Oak and Austin Beerworks. Continue reading
