Haystack Burger and Barley Opens In Richardson

Recently we published a list of our ten favorite burgers in Dallas. The list included mostly mom and pop operations, some who have been in business for as long as 55 years. In the past few years Dallas has become a Mecca of burgers, which certainly cannot be a bad thing. We all love a good burger, and they are certainly fun to compare and contrast the flavors of beef, bun and oozing ingredients.

Yesterday we paid a visit to a new burger outlet that only recently opened for business in Richardson. Needless to say we loved what we found or you would not be reading this text today. Shady’s Burger Joint To Open Next Week In Richardson

Shady’s Burger Joint is opening next week in Richardson just a few doors down from one of our favorite hidden ice creameries, Sweet Firefly, which is located on Custer. The new restaurant will feature hand-formed certified angus beef patties on an eclectic menu of unique, locally crafted specialty burgers and sandwiches made fresh to order. Shady’s General Manager, Chris Harrelson, hopes the burger joint will become a gathering place for the neighborhood and beyond. Continue reading →

Review: Soulfish Grill

Soulfish Grill would otherwise be noted as a quaint neighborhood bar if you were a casual passerby in scratch of a beer or cocktail, but scratch away the nautical patina and you find that it is a pretty tasty restaurant in disguise. I spent the first half of Fat Tuesday getting fatter noshing on a few shared plates with friends at Soulfish, and fell in love with the food, drinks and the people that patronize the two year old bar.

As it happened, this particular also evening fell on the monthly meeting of the Dallas Ukulele Club. The club is a vibrant mix of young and old ukulele enthusiasts from around the area, and basically filled the bar up with their members. For a fortunate few sitting at the bar we were able to take in the entertainment as a fly on the wall. Continue reading →

Rusty Barn To Open In Richardson

Look for a new burger bar to open next to the Alamo Drafthouse that is currently under construction in the Richardson Heights Shopping Center located on Belt Line and North Central Expressway. The Rusty Barn will serve upscale burgers and craft beer.

Both Alamo Drafthouse and Rusty Barn will open Spring of 2013. Continue reading →

Monster Yogurt Opening In Richardson

Monster Yogurt which has a location in Casa Linda in east Dallas just signed a lease for a new location in Richardson. The 1,900 square foot location is located at Coit and Campbell roads and will feature 80 flavors of frozen yogurt and the Cave playground for the kiddos.

It’s scary and just in time for Halloween.

Alamo Drafthouse Is Coming To Dallas And We Have Details

We have been duly warned that the Austin based movie theater chain, Alamo Drafthouse, is coming to the Dallas area soon. Soon is more like April or May of 2013, but we have plenty to celebrate as we count down the months to its arrival.

Look for plenty of locations in and around Dallas with the first site to be in Richardson on the southwest corner of Belt Line Road in the old Pep Boys location in the Richardson Heights Shopping Center. The shopping center is predominately occupied by Indian restaurants, grocers, clothing and gift shops, but that is how Alamo rolls. They prefer a very indigenous location that might need a boost of economic juju. Continue reading →

First Look: Wicked Po Boys

Something wicked this way comes. We sat down with the owners of the Wicked Po Boys, Joey Le and Lan Chi Le. The couple soft opened the new restaurant today and will officially open with a full swing tomorrow (Wednesday, June 26, 2012).

The pair are definitely NOLAphiles and appreciate the intricacies of the food found in the Big Easy. We did all the press release fun yesterday, but today we went in for a First Look and have plenty of food photos and a fun Q&A with the owners. Continue reading →

Two New Locations For Pearl Cup Announced

The highly regarded local specialty coffee shop, Pearl Cup Coffee, has announced it’s newest location at 2701 Custer Pkwy, Suite 917 in the II Creeks shopping center in Richardson. The II Creeks shopping center is a neighborhood supported location and home of Richardson Community Theatre, as well as wonderful restaurants and fitness centric businesses. In addition to their award winning coffee, the location will also sell beer and wine, and their expansive patio will be the centerpiece. The location is set to open late August or early September.
