We spoke with David Anthony Temple, otherwise known as Chef DAT this weekend and he informed craveDFW that he was leaving the Mason Bar which just opened weeks ago. He stated that there were several factors in his decision.
First, the bar is planning on serving good food, but with lesser focus. DAT said the menu will still be exceptional.
Second, DAT said he was losing focus on his own brand which includes his restaurant plans that he set on the back burner to open Mason. The young chef will be offering his signature underground dinners once again, and will also be working with a group of chefs from Hawaii for two months.
As for the Mason Bar, DAT’s last day is February 29, 2012. Chef de cuisine Cable Smith will soon accept another position locally. For those that missed out on DAT’s food at Mason, it was spectacular and we will continue to follow this rising chef.
