The Planets: An HD Odyssey with FWSO

by Crave Staff

The Fort Worth Symphony presents the North Texas premiere of this image-enhanced performance of Gustav Holst’s cosmic masterpiece. Projected in HD on a giant screen over the stage, the latest high-definition images from modern space exploration provide a stunning visual canvas as the orchestra, under the direction of associate conductor Andre Franco, plays Holst’s complete glorious score.

The Planets: An HD Odyssey is a new film created by documentarian Duncan Copp and produced by the Houston Symphony in close collaboration with NASA. It was premiered last season by the Houston orchestra, which subsequently took the production to Carnegie Hall and to Europe. While other orchestras have performed The Planets with projected photographs, this new film makes use of the latest high-definition planetary images, most of which have not been seen before by the public.
