Secure Your Tickets NOW for the 2012 Chefs Of Summer Event

The Greater Dallas Restaurant Association is reaching out with their coming event this weekend that will benefit local schools with culinary programs. Cocktails, wine, and beer with heavy hors d’oeuvres and desserts will be provided by Wolfgang Puck Catering.

This event differs from so many of the walk around fundraisers where you taste each chef’s offerings. Instead you will mill about with the chefs and bid on their different auction packages. This is where the fun comes in as the chefs have prepared some fun packages that might be just a bit different than your usual silent auction bid.

Here are a few of the things you can expect to see offered up at the event:     

Chef’s Janice Provost and Chad Houser of Parigi invite you for an evening of artistic exploration.  8 guests will be invited into the studio of renowned Dallas artist, Shane Pennington, to channel their inner artist, and create a masterpiece.  The chefs will help get your paint brushes moving by serving you a three course dinner, paired with wonderful wines, and Shane will give you a tour of his studio and share his art experiences. After dinner, each guest will receive a canvas, paints, and brushes to have fun and be creative. Availability will be on a mutually agreed upon date. $2000 estimated value.

Chef Reagan Snowden will prepare a seasonal Tuscan Vineyard menu for ten (10) in your home or a Wolfgang Puck Catering location. Menu to include hors d’oeuvres and three courses inspired by Chef Reagan’s Tuscan travels, and service. Host to provide tableware and beverages. Estimated $1500 value.

Abraham Salum: Dinner for 8 at Komali,  with tequila pairings with tequila expert. $800 value.

Personal Chef Hollie Dorethy: Cocktail party for 20 in the purchaser’s home.  Cooking lesson of 30 minutes included to break up the evening, and followed by a party full of appetizers and hand picked cocktails.  Estimated $2500 value.

There will also be packages from Brian Luscher at the Grape, Jack Perkins at Maple Motor Burger, Dan Landsberg at ZaZa’s Dragonfly, Blythe Beck, Randal Copeland of Ava, Jill Bates from Fearing, Morris Salerno and many more.

Proceeds raised from the auction will go to fund our Program Support Fund, which is used to help support the teachers and classrooms in the high schools who participate in our two-year culinary and hospitality curriculum, TX ProStart.  We already have a thriving scholarship program (awarded $82,000 to students this year), but what we’re seeing as a result of the state’s budget crisis is that the teachers cannot afford to build their programs, take their students to competitions, or afford any sort of extra learning experiences.
