This week DFW area Neiman Marcus stores will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Julia Child’s birth with special dishes inspired by the culinary icon and offered by the Dallas chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier, an international organization of women in the culinary profession.
The menu was created by Executive Chef and Dame Anita Hirsch as a tribute to the great chef and features her personal favorites, including corn chowder, simple French greens and chicken salad, Croque Madame, sautéed halibut and Queen of Sheba cake, a French staple featured in Child’s first cook book. Foodies, gourmands or just those who appreciate a good meal can enjoy the menu August 13 -18. No special tickets are needed for the event, but reservations are recommended. In honor of Child’s legacy, special donations can be made to Les Dames d’Escoffier International Legacy Awards, supported by The Julia Child Foundation for Gastronomy and the Culinary Arts.
