You know that there are two things that I hold close to my heart — fundraisers & food banks. Now throw in some competitive BBQ’ing, and I’m all ears. Prepare yourselves for the BIG D BBQ Battle taking place April 24.
The North Dallas Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its inaugural BBQ competition that will benefit the North Texas Food Bank on April 24, 2014. There will be three categories that will be judged: best dressed, most enthusiastic, and of course best BBQ.
It’s not too late register a team or buy tickets to this event. Music will be provided by Lower 40–a local Oklahoma country band. The gates open on Thursday 5p.m. and will last till 8p.m. at the Valley View Center at Midtown.
Of the course the best part of the BBQ competition will be the judging, of which I will be one of the many judges on hand to savor the beans, ribs and brisket. Who knows, I may just end up doing a BBQ challenge that day in eating a few pounds of meat and beans. So if you’re available, come by and show so much deserved support to this cause.
North Texas Food Bank is a non profit orgainization located here in Dallas that believes in fighting hunger in our community. NTFB is also in desperate need of volunteers to help with the daily activities in helping achieve their objectives.
