Your Official Party Guide For The Red River Rivalry Texas-OU Weekend

With the big Texas-OU Red River Rivalry this weekend there are plenty of activities for visiting revelers and local supporters alike. We came up with a few suggestions for your partying needs whether you plan on enjoying the game in the comfort of your own digs, or out among the masses.

The big non-partisan party will take place on the Plaza at American Airlines Center to watch the game in the comfort of your own lawn chair. Set up time begins at 10am Saturday morning. If you are an Oklahoma fan the official headquarters for your partying needs begins tonight at the Henderson Tap House on Henderson Avenue. The OU Alumni Club of Dallas invites you to join them at the Tap House from 6 to 8pm with their annual raffle benefiting the OU Alumni Scholarship fun at 7:30. Happy Hour runs from 3 to 7pm with special beer prices and half price pizza.  

The Henderson Tap House is also home to the official OU watching party which begins at 11am.  2323 North Henderson Ave, Dallas.

Friday night your will find a swarm of OU fans at the Hilton Lincoln Center with seats starting at $25 each. Look for the OU Marching band, mascot and Spirit Squad on hand at this raucous event.  A shuttle bus will be provided the following Saturday morning to the game at the Cotton Bowl at Fair Park starting at $20 a seat.

Texas Exes will enjoy a party this Friday night at the Toad in the Hole on Ross Avenue. For those unfamiliar the venue is located next to Three Sheets at 3121 Ross Avenue. Here you will find the Texas cheerleaders who will lead you through a night of crazy good fun starting with a free buffet from 7 to 9pm. Door prizes, a live band and a DJ are just a few things to expect at this official party for Texas fans.


Whether you scream “Boomer Sooner” or “Hook Em Horns”, the Granada Theater will host a game watching party just for you with seats selling for a mere $15 each. Buckets of beer and fajitas will be served with doors opening at 9am Saturday morning. Buy your tickets online (because you can).

For tho wanting to avoid the crowds and watch the game from the comfort of your Barcalounger, Sprinkles has a special treat for you in mind with their almuni themed cupcakes available only at the The Plaza at Preston Center in Dallas. If your pooch is a fan as well pick up specially decorated dog safe cookies frosted with your favorite team theme in peanut butter which can be found at the Lucky Dog Barkery at 8320 Preston Center Plaza.

East Dallas’ Capitol Pub welcomes University of Texas and University of Oklahoma fans alike for a weekend of Red River Shoot-out festivities October 10 and 11. Local punk trio Ten Can Riot kicks-off the weekend Friday night beginning at 9:00pm Capitol Pub opens early Saturday, October 11 (10:30am) for the Texas/OU watch party. Saturday Brunch specials including Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs, Capitol Omelet and American Breakfast are offered in addition to the a la carte menu. $5 mimosas and the award-winning Bloody Mary heal heavy heads.

A little bit country, a little bit rock-n-roll and a whole lotta soul, Fingerless Ghost takes the stage at 5:00 p.m. followed by DG Kwasar at 10:00pm on Sunday. Capitol Pub is located at 2401 N. Henderson.

Firday night Reunion Tower will get into the spirit with a special fireworks show synchronized with the lights in the iconic ball downtown at 9m. Optimum viewing will be at Trinity Groves or on the Continental Bridge park.

    Great list! There is also a great party every year at Barley House for Texas and OU fans, starts at 7pm on Friday.
