Just before Christmas there was a massive warehouse fire behind the Cohn Drennan Contemporary gallery. The Dallas Fire Department was not able to gain access to the fire because DART rail runs behind the warehouse. In order to begin suppression of the fire, the DFD ran a fire hose through the building, up the stairs and down the hall above the gallery in order to break out a window in the back of the building and get as much water on the fire as possible.
No one was harmed, but there were several displaced tenants and the gallery sustained water damage to the ceiling, walls, loft and bathroom. The owners are in the process of moving out of the gallery so property management can begin repairs. There is no timeline of when this will be completed, so they are also considering relocating the gallery, and are considering all options.
