Two Brothers BBQ Market In San Antonio Is Smoking Good

2bros2by Steven Doyle

What happens when a talented starred chef from San Antonio decides to enter the Texas BBQ arena? Ask Jason Dady who opened Two Bros BBQ Market in 2009 with his brother Jake.

Dady owns a beautiful stable of restaurants that span the culinary horizons and include Tre Enoteca that features Cast Iron Fried Chicken and Wagyu Meatballs with Spaghetti, and a bevy of dishes made in the chef’s wood burning oven in Alamo Heights of San Antonio. Tre Trattoria located on the San Antonio River offers Tuscan Italian inspired fare, B&D Ice House owned by Jason and Jake Dady with Steve Newman of The Frienldy Spot and Alamo Street Eat Bar and featuring BBQ and beer, and the DUK Truck featuring Tijuana Style DUK Tacos and Bahn Mi Sandwiches sold out of a food truck that roves the Alamo City.

Opening this Summer, the Shuck Shack features fresh oysters on the half-shell from all three coasts in a casual family friendly atmosphere. Located just a few blocks from The Pearl in Government Hill, you’ll enjoy signature Clam Chowda ala minute or a Lobster Roll or classic Shack Salad. Add on appetizers like White Cheddar Jalapeno Hush-Pups or Creamy Crab Fritters while dining on the outdoor patio with a glass of wine or craft brews.

Dady’s passion for BBQ is evident in his daily attention to great detail along with his pitmaster, Javier Rodriguez. We had a chance to speak with Rodriguez recently, and his passion and love for BBQ is evident. You can taste that love in each smoky bite.

From the large and lush pork ribs, to the cherry glazed baby backs, each are meaty and tender. Same for the brisket which has a crisp dark crust and a moist marbling that is the sign for a perfect slice of beef. You will also enjoy the house stuffed sausages, both spicy and mild, as well as pulled pork and juicy smoked chicken thighs – always a chef’s choice on the bird.

Sauces are not necessary, but there are a slew to choose from from mild to spicy, sweet and tangy. Sides are also a bonus not often found at BBQ joints that dot the Texas landscape. But for a top chef you tend to expect, and receive, some terrific sides such as Cole slaw , peachy baked beans, creamed corn and mac and cheese.

Two Bros is family friendly with a full on playground out back in the large compound filled with picnic tables. Check out nights where entertainment is provided for a bonus visit.

We also loved the great selection of Texas craft beers. The choices are enough to make you giddy. But that brisket is the star of the day today.

Two Bros BBQ Market is located at 12656 West Ave. in San Antonio. You may reach them at 210.496.0222.
