Cruzan Single Barrel Rum is a fantastic addition to any collector’s shelf. Consider the carefully selected Cruzan rum that’s been aged 4-12 years in used whisky or bourbon barrel and finished with a second aging in charred new oak barrel for an additional 6-9 months, which darkens the rum and imparts a slightly smoky, slightly oaky flavor that gives this particular rum a Cognac-like quality.
This Single Barrel is on the darker side as dark rums go, both in the bottle and in the glass, but the taste and weight do not come close to reflecting this, as it is actually very smooth and mellow. You will definitely want to serve this neat, possibly with a large cube of ice if you wish a more mellow sip. We served this at our Thanksgiving party and it was a straight-away hit with guests.
Although we are recommending this rum as is, we do have a few holiday ideas for the Cruzan rum. The Hot Buttered Rum will be an exceptional addition to your holiday cheer.
