Holiday shopping can be a mixed bag of bla and a blur, so it is especially wonderful when a beautiful shop such as Scardello makes my life easier. Behold! The gift of cheese. Stop by and pick up a few holiday treats and sign up your friends or loved ones to one of the following classes to be held in January. If you have not attended Cheese 101 it is highly recommended as your first stop onto the journey of fine cheeses. 

Chocolate, Cheese and Bubbles

What more can be said about three of life’s greatest pleasures? Scardello will have a special guest share about chocolate. Join us as we explore each of these delights individually and try some interesting pairings.  

Beer vs. Wine SMACKDOWN!

Friday, January 5, 2018, 8 p.m. and Friday, January 12, 2018, 8 p.m.

Which is truly the better pair with cheese? Will wine lovers shake their stems in the agony of defeat? Will beer lovers mourn by crying into their…well…beer? Even if you know the answers to these vexing questions, who wouldn’t love the experience of putting these two elixirs to the test? Each of the five rounds consists of one cheese, one wine and one beer. We will talk about pairing in general and specific impressions of each pair. There will be a vote and a winner. What truly is cheese’s best partner? You will decide!

Cheese 101 

Thursday, January 11, 2018, 7 p.m.

$40 per person

Join us as we experience comparative tastings of cheese and out-of-the-ordinary items that will help you focus on the distinct flavors of each cheese type. We will cover the basics of how cheese is made and answer questions about cheese pairing fundamentals. Also, there will be soothing libations provided to enjoy in the relaxing atmosphere of the shop!

 

Nothin’ But Cheddar

Thursday, January 18, 2018, 7 p.m. and Friday, January 26, 2018, 8 p.m.

Where does cheddar come from? What is it and how is it made? Get the answers to all of these vexing questions and taste the results! We will be pairing these great cheeses with wines from around the world.

The Blues

Everything blue, green and in between! Those lovely veins running through blue cheese make our mouths tingle in anticipation. Learn about these wonders in the cheese world by tasting examples from mild to strong, creamy to crumbly, and a few that feel like a good old-fashioned kick in the teeth! Of course, we will pair these delights with near-perfect libations.
