Eat Me: Hatch Chili Cheeseburger From Swiss Pastry Shop

hatchby Steven Doyle

It’s that time of year again when everything is kicked up with Hatch peppers. It is almost like a holiday filled with pageantry, gifts and special surprises. Take the Las Cruces Campfire Chili Cheeseburger featuring a half pound Akaushi wagyu burger with pecan smoked wagyu Hatch chile con carne and aged Hatch white cheddar. Get it as a burger $14, a wagyu chili dog $9, or a bowl of chili $5 from the Swiss Pastry Shop in Fort Worth. That bun you see depicted here is also baked in house for ultimate freshness.

The legendary restaurant has been kicking it strong in Fort Worth since the 60’s, and has served breakfast and lunch daily. Swiss Pastry, with the guidance of owner Hans Mueller, recently expanded hours and now serves dinner. The restaurant is closed Sunday and Monday. Check their site for exact hours.  Swiss Pastry is possibly the most Texas cafe you will find in the Lone Star State.
