The Galleria Celebrates a Century of Girl Scouts

Each year CraveDFW celebrates the Girl Scouts, but this is next level at the Galleria.

For the past seven years, Galleria Dallas has hosted teams of local Girl Scouts as they practiced design, engineering and architecture skills with Cookie Box Creations. That local event will not occur this year, but that won’t stop area Girl Scouts from sharing their message, and their tasty cookies, with Galleria Dallas shoppers.

Throughout the month of March, Galleria Dallas shoppers will enjoy a historic retrospective of Girl Scouting from 1912 to the present.  The engaging timeline will feature life-size images of Girl Scouts in uniforms from the 1930’s, 1950’s, 1970’s, 1990’s and today, alongside historical photographs highlighting landmarks in the organization’s history. The exhibit celebrates the ways in which scouting has been proactive for women and girls across the decades. As a part of the exhibit, guests can use a QR code to donate boxes of Girl Scout cookies to healthcare heroes at Children’s Health.

Fridays and Saturday in March, teams of Girl Scouts will be offering curbside purchase and delivery of cookies from the circular drive along Galleria Dallas’ storied Alley, adjacent to The Blue Fish and facing Dallas North Tollway. The organization hopes the combination of donated cookie sales and direct curbside sales will help them recoup over 100,000 boxes of lost sales due to changes forced by the pandemic. But they want people to also realize that the Cookie Program does more than raise funds for the local council and area Girl Scout Troops.

“Everyone loves Girl Scout Cookies, but they don’t always know how the Cookie Program builds girls into future leaders,” said Jennifer Bartkowski, GSNETX CEO. “Girl Scouts are running their own businesses, adapting to challenges brought by the pandemic to reach their goals in a safe manner. Each box of Girl Scout Cookies teaches valuable lessons in entrepreneurship and powers possibilities for girls. The Cookie Program is a perfect example of the resiliency of girls – we’re proud to be empowering the leaders of tomorrow.”

Galleria Dallas is happy to host local Girl Scouts and to celebrate their mission and vison.

“As a past Girl Scout, I know the impact that the Cookie Program had on me as a young leader,” notes Galleria Dallas Director of Marketing Megan Townsend. “We are thrilled to share the impact that Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas has had on decades of women and girls here in the area.”
