Enjoy the popovers with strawberry butter, but you will most likely want to check out the chicken salad or grilled cheese served with a splash of tomato soup at Zodiac, the 68-year-old favorite for ladies who lunch and the rest of the free world.

Fans of the restaurant crave the chicken salad, which is actually made with cream, a dollop of mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, celery and diced chicken breast. This with a side of the Mandarin orange gelatin mold “souffle” with export you back to the 1950’s where such delights were commonplace on a luncheon plate.

Located on the Sixth Floor of the flagship Neiman Marcus store downtown, the Zodiac Restaurant begins each meal with the requisite popover and cups of chicken broth that will gear diners up for what lies ahead. Complete the meal with one of the many exquisite desserts baked fresh daily on premise or take home a whole cake to devour in silence without guilt.

The grilled cheese is certainly legendary and served with a silky-smooth tomato soup.  We also love the croque madame served with a sunny side up egg, black forest ham, gruyere and a bechamel served on a grilled sourdough.
