Fort Worth’s beloved improv troupe, Four Day Weekend, is relocating to a new venue.
The group is set to move to Stage West Theatre, located at 821 W. Vickery Blvd. in the Near Southside.
This transition comes shortly after the troupe announced it would be leaving its long-time home at Sundance Square, following the decision not to renew its lease at 312 Houston Street, where they had performed since 1997.
Four Day Weekend’s debut performance at Stage West is scheduled for August 3, while their final show at Sundance Square will take place on the weekend of July 26.
“We are thrilled to keep the Southwest’s longest-running show in Fort Worth by establishing a residency at Stage West Theatre,” said David Wilk, a founding member of Four Day Weekend. “This is a great collaboration between two well-known brands in the Fort Worth community and ensures our performances continue uninterrupted for our fans. Exit Stage West!”
The troupe originated from a six-week trial run at Casa on the Square in 1997 and quickly captivated city audiences with its unique blend of comedy, improv, and audience participation.
“Stage West is just five minutes from Sundance Square and is an intimate venue in Fort Worth’s creative neighborhood of Near Southside,” Wilk added. “It feels a lot like Christmas and getting a shiny new toy! We can hardly wait to move into the theatre to make people laugh, while making new friends and seeing old acquaintances.”
Tickets for the inaugural performance at their new venue are now available at FourDayWeekend.com.
Founded in 1979, Stage West presents a full season of productions featuring diverse premieres and beloved titles. Additionally, Stage West hosts monthly community events and educational programs reaching over 1,700 students and adults annually.
“When we learned Four Day Weekend was losing its downtown space, the only response was ‘come over here,’” said Dana Schultes, Stage West executive producer. “A thriving arts scene makes Fort Worth better. Plus, we have multiple performance spaces. The Near Southside Arts district is an ideal landing spot. Extending a helping hand to a fellow Fort Worth arts institution was a no-brainer.”
