The Charlotte is a stunning new all-day neighborhood bistro and bar that blends timeless charm with contemporary elegance. Located in the heart of Dallas at 2822 N Henderson Ave, Dallas, TX 75206, the 5,800-square-foot restaurant promises an extraordinary dining experience, bringing a sophisticated yet approachable touch to the city’s culinary scene.

Curated by Culinary Director Wyl Lima and Operating Partner Kimberly O’Neal, The Charlotte offers a thoughtfully designed menu that balances the comforts of American cuisine with bold global influences. The restaurant is a space where guests from all walks of life can come together to enjoy exceptional food and warm hospitality in a setting that feels both indulgent and intimate.

The inspiration behind The Charlotte is deeply personal, rooted in a childhood memory shared by one of the restaurant’s partners. His mother, Charlotte, was a beloved figure in the neighborhood, known for her nurturing spirit and the comfort she provided to all who walked through her door. It is this sense of community and belonging that The Charlotte strives to emulate—a place where guests feel like they are stepping into a second home, surrounded by familiar faces and the warmth of exceptional service.

“We wanted the name to reflect the heart and soul of what we’re creating,” says Kimberly O’Neal. “A place where our guests can walk in, see familiar faces, and feel like they’re at home.”

Leading the kitchen is Wyl Lima, a seasoned chef with nearly two decades of experience, including five years as Chef de Cuisine at the Michelin-starred Temporis in Chicago and as Executive Chef at Sister in Dallas. Lima’s culinary philosophy is rooted in creating food that excites the palate while remaining accessible and inviting to all. His menu combines Southern comfort food with international flavors, highlighting the best of Texas and beyond.

“Every dish at The Charlotte has a story to tell,” says Lima. “We’ve woven Southern cooking with global influences, aiming to create a sense of discovery and comfort with every bite.”

The opening menu offers a dynamic mix of shared plates, entrées, and sides that cater to every craving. Begin with Biryani Spiced Wings with citrus ranch or Charred Elote, a street food classic loaded with crema, lime, queso fresco, and cotija. Indulge in Charbroiled Oysters, a Southern favorite, broiled to perfection in either a Cajun style or lemon parmesan.

For the main course, guests can savor standout options like Crispy Duck, served with roasted red pepper sauce and potato pavé, or the decadent Steak Au Poivre, a tableside presentation featuring brandy peppercorn cream sauce and crispy fries. The Lamb Chimichurri pairs spiced chops with tender asparagus, while the Roasted Chicken with Piri Piri Sauce offers a zesty roasted quarter bird with a cucumber tomato salad. For a classic Southern treat, dive into the creamy Shrimp & Grits, complete with cheesy grits, roasted red peppers, and sautéed onions.

Pasta enthusiasts will delight in the Spicy Vodka Pasta, made with conchiglie and topped with basil, breadcrumbs, parmesan, and chili flakes, or the Cajun Truffle Mafaldine Pasta, a hearty dish with jumbo shrimp. For something uniquely Southern, try the Spaghetti & Catfish, with crispy catfish filet and a savory meat sauce.

Seafood lovers can choose from delicate options like Crispy Whole Snapper, served with andouille, herb salad, sautéed onion, and harissa, or the Mediterranean-inspired Whole Branzino, finished with charred lemon butter and chili flakes.

For something a bit more casual, The Charlotte offers a selection of handhelds, including the Perfect Smash Cheeseburger, with caramelized onions, pickles, American cheese, and jerk mayo, or the Chicken Sandwich, available fried or grilled, served on sesame brioche with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and remoulade.

No meal is complete without sides that satisfy and surprise. Choose from timeless options like Mac & Cheese or Whipped Potatoes, or explore more adventurous options like Crab Fried Rice, Creole Okra, Charred Cabbage, and Jollof Rice—each bringing a unique flavor to the table.

Signature Cocktails & Seasonal Libations

The cocktail menu at The Charlotte offers a curated selection of signature drinks and scratch-made seasonal concoctions that perfectly complement the culinary experience. Try the Key Lime Pie Cocktail, made with Roku gin, vanilla, lime foam, and boba pearls, or the indulgent Frozen Espresso Martini, featuring Grey Goose and coffee foam, topped with a cocoa-shaped teddy bear. For something more daring, the Mexican Candy Shot brings a sweet and spicy kick, made with Cuervo Devil’s Reserve, Stoli Chamoy, and watermelon.

Happy Hour is a must-try, available Monday through Friday from 4 PM to 7 PM, offering specially priced crafted cocktails and wines in a relaxed setting.

The design of The Charlotte marries contemporary sophistication with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Mint tones and metallic accents blend seamlessly with wooden elements and custom watercolor-patterned upholstery, creating a space that is both elegant and comfortable. A whimsical touch can be found in the restaurant’s signature teddy bear motif, which evokes nostalgia and adds a playful charm to the decor.
