Chido Frisco Reconcepts at Casa Alma in Frisco

The former Chído Taco Lounge, which served global tacos and top-shelf tequilas since debuting in 2021, is excited to launch its next chapter as Casa Alma Restaurante Mexicano. The updated concept features a fresh, welcoming design and an expanded menu designed to be a go-to spot for relaxed dinners, family gatherings, date nights, business outings, celebrations and more of life’s occasions.

“It’s been an honor to welcome Frisco diners into Chído over the past four years, but we felt like it was time for a change,” said Blaine McGowan, the concept’s founder. “This area needs more full-service, sit-down dinner spots, and we always want to serve the community the best way we can. We listened to our guests’ needs and made the decision to reconcept, and we’re confident that Casa Alma Restaurante Mexicano will become a favorite among our regulars and new customers alike.”

To assist with the transition, McGowan enlisted Coeval Studio, the design team behind some of the best-looking restaurant and lifestyle spaces in DFW. Coeval redesigned the interior to make it light and airy, using earth tones and mixed textures, with plenty of natural light streaming in through the windows.

Veteran chef Francisco Guerrero leads the kitchen after serving as executive chef of top restaurants like Ida Claire and Sugar Bacon. He’s brought his experience and perspective to the menu, creating new dishes to reflect the updated concept.

The menu still features plenty of delicious tacos, like carnitas, carne asada and Baja fish, but those are now joined by a variety of other options, including ceviche, shrimp cocktail, and shared plates like albondigas and grilled short ribs. Soups and salads round out the starters, while entrees range from enchiladas verde to a sous vide pork chop and glazed salmon. Another standout item is the Chído Burger featuring two smashed patties topped with bacon-chili jam.

Brunch is served on Saturdays and Sundays and adds menu items like breakfast nachos, breakfast burritos, churro waffles and birria stacked enchiladas. The avocado tostada is a riff on the classic brunchtime favorite avocado toast, combining smashed avocado with a medium egg, pico de gallo, cotija cheese and salsa macha.

The drinks menu is anchored by Margaritas, plus other classics like the Paloma, Ranch Water, and Old Fashioned, and it’s been updated with more wines to pair with the expanded food menu. Chído was always known for its happy hour, and that hasn’t changed. Casa Alma is still the place to go, with happy hour running from 3-6pm Monday through Friday and all day on Wednesdays and Sundays. Patrons can score $4 off Margaritas and cocktails, and half-price wines by the glass.

Casa Alma Restaurante Mexicano is open now. It’s located at 6959 Lebanon Rd, Suite 123 in Frisco, TX.
