The Kid Now Open in The Heights – Houston

Houston’s bar scene just got a little cooler—and a lot more delicious. The Kid, a brand-new cocktail lounge and eatery from the team behind beloved concepts Flying Saucer and Rodeo Goat, has officially opened its doors in The Heights, and it’s bringing a bold, boozy energy to the neighborhood.

Located at 1815 N. Durham Drive at 19th Street, The Kid strikes a perfect balance between laid-back and elevated. It draws inspiration from its sibling establishments, marrying Flying Saucer’s craft beer sensibility, Rodeo Goat’s burger wizardry, and a refined cocktail program that nods to Dallas’ Meddlesome Moth. It’s a place where you can sip a Negroni, smash a burger, and maybe even shoot a game of pool—all under one roof.

The drink menu is where The Kid really flexes its personality. Yes, you’ll find classic cocktails—Old Fashioned, Espresso Martini, Aperol Spritz, and the ever-iconic Negroni—but you’ll also discover a playful selection of house originals with names that hint at the bar’s cheeky spirit. Try the Big Moe, the fiery Jalapeño Business, or the tropical Let That Mango. Whether you’re a cocktail connoisseur or just in it for a fun night out, the bartenders are shaking up something worth sipping.

For the vino-inclined, there’s a curated wine list featuring selections by the glass and bottle, while craft beer fans can look forward to the kind of smart, rotating tap list Flying Saucer is famous for.

Come hungry. The Kid’s food menu leans heavily on Rodeo Goat’s acclaimed burger game, offering familiar hits like the River Oaks C.C., the juicy Bodacious Burger, and the cinematic Royale with Cheese. Each can be customized with your protein of choice—beef from 44 Farms, ground turkey, vegan-friendly patties, Impossible, or even the bare-bones ‘nekked’ option.

Beyond burgers, the menu serves up shareable starters and bar-friendly bites, including a standout artisan meat and cheese board courtesy of Houston Dairy Maids, savory sirloin rice cakes, warm spiced nuts, a medley of olives, and crispy dips and chips. Whether you’re nibbling or feasting, there’s something for every palate.

More than just a spot for food and drinks, The Kid is designed for social lounging. Two spacious outdoor patios, plenty of indoor seating, TVs, a pool table, and dart boards create a lively, unpretentious vibe that’s equally suited for happy hour, date night, or just unwinding with friends.

Behind the scenes are hospitality veterans Shannon Wynne, Keith Schlabs, and Houston’s own Asa Hanrahan, who heads up all Flying Saucer operations and now brings his touch to this neighborhood gem.

The Kid is open Monday through Saturday from 4 PM to 2 AM, and Sunday from 4 PM to midnight. Families are welcome until 7 PM, making it a versatile hangout no matter the crowd.
