For over a decade, a quiet revolution in food was growing just outside the city bustle in North Texas. Profound Foods began with little more than a greenhouse, a vision, and a team driven by the belief that food grown nearby could nourish more than just bodies—it could transform communities.
Eleven years of farming. Seven incredible years of weekly deliveries. And now, this spring marks the end of an era.
Profound Foods has announced that it will be closing its greenhouse operations and discontinuing its delivery service. The final delivery and pickup will take place on Friday, May 23rd.
But this isn’t just a goodbye—it’s a celebration. Over the years, Profound has accomplished something extraordinary. With the help of a devoted community, they:
- Moved over $4.5 million of truly local food into North Texas kitchens.
- Sent 75 cents of every dollar directly to 185 farmers, ranchers, and producers in the region.
- Fulfilled 34,000+ home and restaurant orders, championing local sourcing.
- Donated more than 90,000 pounds of fresh food to local charities and food banks.
- Welcomed hundreds of volunteers, dozens of interns, and inspired over 15,000 visitors and school children through hands-on experiences.
- Helped launch 22 food-based businesses from their incubator kitchen and hub.
None of it would have been possible without the hard work of the Profound team—from greenhouse growers to packers and delivery drivers—or the loyal supporters who chose to open their doors and kitchens to local food every week.
So why the change? The team at Profound explained that maintaining a year-round food hub had become increasingly difficult. What began as a farm expanded rapidly—first into food aggregation and distribution, then into a commercial kitchen, an incubator for small food businesses, a learning space, and a community hub. It became more than a farm; it became a mission.
And that mission isn’t ending—it’s evolving.
As Profound winds down its greenhouse operations, its founders are retooling the organization with a sharper focus on regenerative practices, education, and community events. The Fairview event space will continue to host private and public gatherings, and Profound will still support emerging food entrepreneurs, host cooking classes, and spark conversations about building a more resilient food system in North Texas.
To mark the end of this powerful chapter, Profound is hosting one final farm tour and dinner in their greenhouse on May 18th. Former staff members and long-time chef partners will return for an unforgettable evening celebrating the journey of local food, and all who made it possible.
In the coming weeks, Profound will also be listing its greenhouses, plants, and hydroponic supplies for sale, hoping to pass the torch to the next generation of growers ready to take root.
