Bangkok at Greenville to Close After 32 Years in Dallas

After more than 30 years of serving authentic Thai cuisine and warm hospitality, Bangkok at Greenville will close its doors for good on Monday, June 30, 2025. The beloved neighborhood restaurant has been a mainstay in Dallas, cherished for its flavorful dishes, thoughtful service, and the sense of community it fostered.

Owners Joe and Sunny, who have run the restaurant together since shortly after Joe took over in the early 1990s, made the difficult choice to close due to rising operational costs and a personal desire to spend more time with their aging parents. The couple, who married not long after Joe assumed ownership of what was then Bangkok City, poured their hearts into building a restaurant rooted in family values and cultural pride.

“This wasn’t an easy decision,” said Sunny, “but we know it’s the right one. We’re proud of what we’ve built and grateful for all the memories made here. Bangkok has truly been our home.”

Joe’s love for Thai cuisine began in his native Thailand, where he grew up in a family of restaurateurs. He studied at a royal cooking school, where he was trained not only in traditional Thai techniques but also in the delicate arts of fruit carving and floral arrangement—skills that emphasized elegance and cultural respect. That attention to detail carried through in every plate served at Bangkok at Greenville.

Over the decades, the restaurant became more than just a place to eat. It became a gathering spot where people celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, and everyday moments. Many of the restaurant’s staff have worked alongside Joe and Sunny for 20 to 30 years, becoming a second family to them and their guests.

“To our loyal customers, you’ve become part of our lives,” said Joe. “This restaurant has always been about more than food—it’s about connection. Thank you for making us part of your story.”

The couple and their team invite both longtime patrons and first-time visitors to join them in the weeks leading up to the final day of service. It’s a chance to revisit favorite dishes, share memories, and celebrate the legacy of a restaurant that has meant so much to so many.

“Thank you for letting us serve happiness all these years,” said Joe and Sunny. “We’ll carry the memories with us always.”
