White Rock Lake Foundation Appreciation Event and Annual Golf Tournament

The White Rock Lake Foundation (WRLF) is thrilled to announce the successful completion of the first phase of the Winfrey Point refurbishment project at White Rock Lake, a cherished community landmark. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our generous patrons, sponsors, and contributors whose unwavering support made this milestone possible.

Over 100 guests joined us to celebrate this achievement Thursday, May 15, at our Annual Appreciation Event, where the revitalized Winfrey Point was showcased. The gathering was filled with community spirit, and appreciation for the collective effort to enhance this beloved public space. Thank you to Dr. Theresa Daniel, Dallas County Commissioner, who spoke at the event acknowledging the successful project and those individuals and organizations that worked with WRLF to achieve this milestone at White Rock Lake Park. We would also thank to send a big thank you to The White Rock East Garden Tour for their generous contribution to the next Phase of improvements, specifically the landscape portion of the renovation project. Stacie Collins, a board member, presented the WRLF with a $13,000 check. In addition, a special thank you goes to Chase the Chef for graciously providing delicious food and beverages, which added a delightful touch to the occasion and kept our attendees energized and engaged.

The refurbishment of Winfrey Point is part of the White Rock Lake Foundation’s ongoing mission to preserve and improve the natural beauty and recreational opportunities at White Rock Lake for all Dallas residents and visitors. This first phase has laid a strong foundation for future enhancements, ensuring the area remains a welcoming destination for families, nature enthusiasts, and community events.

The White Rock Lake Foundation hosted its annual golf tournament at Stevens Park Golf Course earlier this month, raising more than $60,000 in funds that will go towards projects for improvements at Winfrey Point. The golf tournament is one of two major fundraising events The White Rock Lake Foundation is hosting this year, along with their annual Jewel of Dallas Gala, which will be held at Fair Park in the Hall of State on November 6, 2025. Last year’s gala raised over $100,000, with a goal to exceed that amount at this year’s event.

“We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to this project, from our dedicated sponsors to the individuals who gave their time and resources,” said Kathleen Foley, President of the White Rock Lake Foundation. “The success of this phase reflects the power of our community coming together to protect and uplift White Rock Lake. We’re excited for what’s to come in the next stages of this transformation.”

The White Rock Lake Foundation invites the public to visit Winfrey Point and experience the improvements firsthand. We also encourage continued support as we move forward with future phases of the refurbishment to further elevate the lake’s facilities and natural charm.

About the White Rock Lake Foundation

The White Rock Lake Foundation got its start in 1989, when a concerned group of citizens formed the foundation to improve and protect the lake. The Foundation was instrumental and led the efforts to secure a $18 million dollar bond package through the City of Dallas to dredge White Rock Lake and restore it to a healthy, life-sustaining depth.  The bond package was approved by voters in May 1995. From those grassroots origins, the White Rock Lake Foundation has adopted goals that include the completion of the White Rock Lake Master Plan, the development of a Comprehensive Landscape Architectural Concept Plan and a schedule for all restoration, preservation, and development efforts at White Rock Lake. The Foundation works closely with the Dallas Park and Recreation Department, selecting improvements and projects directly from the DPARD wish list and major project list.

Fundraising continues to be a critical component of the White Rock Lake Foundation’s responsibilities. Private funds have paid for essentials at White Rock Lake Park such as directional signage, location/monument signage, shade structures at the Winfrey Point ball fields, tree plantings, picnic tables, water fountains, bicycle racks, benches, trash receptacles, and additional landscaping.
